2025 has emerged as a historic and game-changing year for India’s Renewable Energy Sector. India achieved the big target of 2030 5 years ago, where more than 50% of the country’s electricity capacity is now coming from non-fossil fuels. The total power capacity has crossed 500 GW and the contribution of renewables in it is continuously increasing. The biggest force behind this growth was Solar Energy.

India’s solar capacity is expected to increase from 3 GW in 2014 to approximately 130 GW by 2025, making India the world’s third largest solar power producer. Schemes like PLI scheme, PM Surya Ghar, PM-KUSUM and Green Hydrogen Mission gave tremendous support to the sector. The renewable sector also showed strength on the investment front, where FDI, big projects and strong line pipe were seen. Names like Reliance, NTPC, Adani Green, Tata Power, Suzlon and IREDA were in discussion in the stock market. The conclusion is clear—Renewable Energy has now become not only India’s future but its present. The focus in 2026 will be on execution, profitability, storage and green hydrogen.

India has taken a major step towards its net-geir emission goal for 2070 with the introduction of the first trial of the hydrogen based heavy-duty truck. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced that Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Prahlad Joshi in New Delhi on Tuesday Tata motors The trial organized by the green signal.

Speaking at the event, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari described the hydrogen, which has the ability to change the transport sector of India by cutting emissions and promoting self -reliance in energy. He said that “This initiative will air the change towards strong mobility in heavy-duty trucking and will help us reduce carbon in future. I appreciate Tata Motors for this move for green and smart transport.”

Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasized the role of hydrogen in change in zero-carbon economy of India. “The beginning of this trial is an important step in showing the capacity of Green Hydrogen to disarray the transport sector of India. This initiative as a National Green Hydrogen Mission shows our commitment to innovation, freedom in energy and our commitment to global climate. Joshi said” I appreciate Tata Motors to pursue this effort ”

This trial is similar to India’s large green energy purposes, which is an important step towards long -distance cargo transport. Tata Motors won the tender for this project, which has been funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The trial aims to check their use in the real world by preparing the infrastructure required for large use of hydrogen -powered trucks.

The trial phase will run for 24 months, with 16 hydrogen based trucks with several configurations and payload capacity. These trucks equipped with hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2-As) and Pool Sale (H2-Fcev) technology will be tested on the main route including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Surat, Vadodara, Jamshedpur and Kalingnagar.
