The month of September 2025 has proved to be a great one for the Indian automobile industry. According to the report of SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), after the implementation of GST 2.0, there has been a historic jump in the sales of cars, bikes and rickshaws. The beginning of the festive season, the benefit of new GST rates and increasing purchases by customers have given a new impetus to the entire sector. Let us look at the report in detail.

4% increase in sales of passenger vehicles

A total of 3,72,458 passenger vehicles were sold in India in September 2025. Last year in September 2024, this figure was 3,56,752 units. This means that this time there has been a growth of about 4.4% in sales. This increase was due to the offers and new model launches given by companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra before the festive season. People took advantage of the discounts and better finance schemes, which led to a good surge in sales.

Sales of two wheelers broke records

This year the sale of two-wheelers caught everyone’s attention. A total of 21,60,889 two-wheelers were sold in September 2025, which is about 7% more than last year’s 20,25,993 units. Companies like Hero MotoCorp, Honda, TVS and Bajaj Auto captured both rural and urban markets through festive offers and easy EMI schemes. Increasing income of farmers in rural areas and expectation of good harvest have also boosted bike sales.

Growth trend seen in sales of three-wheelers also

Good growth was also recorded this time in the three-wheeler segment. 84,077 units were sold in September 2025, whereas last year this number was 79,683 units. This is an annual growth of 5.5%. The biggest reason for this growth is the increasing demand for e-rickshaws and CNG auto rickshaws. The GST concessions and subsidy schemes being given by the government on electric vehicles are also playing a big role in this growth.

SIAM President gave a big reaction

SIAM President Shailesh Chandra said that after the implementation of GST 2.0, a big positive change has been seen in the auto industry. According to him, “After the new GST rates, passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers have seen the highest ever sales in all three segments. This will prove to be a new chapter for the Indian auto sector.”

Mixed performance in July-September 2025 quarter

According to the SIAM report, the performance in the quarter from July to September 2025 was excellent in some segments, while there was a slight decline in others. Quarterly sales of Passenger Vehicles stood at 10,39,200 units, which is slightly less than last year’s 10,55,137 units. At the same time, sales of two-wheelers increased by 7% and a total of 55,62,077 units were sold. Three-Wheelers also registered an annual growth of 10%. These figures show that a period of recovery has begun in the market.

India’s two-wheeler market has reached a new peak in September 2025. Due to the beginning of the festive season, increased demand in rural areas and the launch of new models, a strong increase in the sales of bikes and scooters was recorded. This month, a total of 24.58 lakh two-wheelers (domestic + import) have been sold in the country, which shows a growth of 14.37% more as compared to August 2025 and 7.85% growth as compared to September 2024, but the biggest surprise is the lagging behind of a big company like Honda and Hero MotoCorp again maintaining its dominance at the number-1 position.

Hero MotoCorp becomes number-1

Hero MotoCorp once again proved in September 2025 that it is India’s two-wheeler market leader. The company sold the highest number of units this month and left behind companies like Honda, TVS, Bajaj and Royal Enfield. On the other hand, Honda’s sales declined on year-on-year (YoY) basis. It was the only company whose growth was negative in September. Although Honda’s scooter models (like the Activa) are still popular in their category, the decline in bike sales has dragged down the overall figures. TVS Motor and Royal Enfield performed well, with both companies registering double-digit growth in September.

Bajaj and TVS dominate the export market

The two-wheeler export market also performed better in September 2025. A total of 3.98 lakh units were imported from India this month, which shows a growth of 16.95%. Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company together capture about 67% of India’s two-wheeler export market. Both the companies have strengthened their hold in markets like Latin America, Africa and South-East Asia. Hero MotoCorp has also made a better comeback in the field of exports. The company’s exports have almost doubled, while Suzuki has faced a decline in foreign markets.

Tremendous growth in two-wheeler market in September 2025

According to the SIAM report and industry data, India’s total two-wheeler sales (domestic + exports) are expected to reach 24.58 lakh units in September 2025. This is a big increase compared to last month and last year.

performance of companies

Hero MotoCorp sold the most two-wheelers and again achieved the number-1 position. The company’s sales increased by 8%. Honda sales have declined. It was the only company whose growth was -3% in September. TVS Motor performed brilliantly and achieved a growth of 12%. The company also registered good growth in the export market. Bajaj Auto’s sales remained stable and achieved a growth of 9%. Bajaj and TVS together capture 67% of India’s two-wheeler export market. Royal Enfield performed record breaking. The company’s growth reached 43%. The demand for its models like Classic 350, Bullet 350 and Hunter 350 was very high. Suzuki also performed well and registered a growth of 24.48%. Sales of its Access 125 scooter and Gixxer series increased, although there was a slight decline in exports.

Why did Honda sales decline?

There are some big reasons behind the decline of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI). The company did not launch any new model for a long time and remained dependent on the old models. Also, competition from companies like Hero, TVS and Bajaj has increased. The strong hold of Hero and TVS in rural markets is also affecting Honda’s sales. However, Honda is now preparing to enter the new 125cc scooter and electric vehicle segment (EV). The company hopes that this will increase its sales again in the coming months.

After the implementation of the new GST 2.0 rules, bikes with engine capacity less than 350cc have now become more affordable than before. Especially popular commuter bikes like Hero Splendor Plus and Honda Shine 100 DX have now become even cheaper in the market with new prices. Let us know in detail about the price, engine and features of both models.

Hero Splendor Plus at affordable price

Hero Splendor Plus is one of the best selling bikes of India and now after the implementation of GST 2.0 it has become more affordable. The company has reduced its price by Rs 6,820. Now the starting price of this bike starts from Rs 73,902 and goes up to Rs 80,471 (ex-showroom) for the top variant. Splendor Plus is now available in three variants – Standard, Xtec and Xtec 2.0. Of these, Xtec 2.0 is the most advanced model, which includes features like LED headlight, LCD digital display and front disc brake.

This bike has a 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which generates 8hp power and 8Nm torque. This engine comes with 4-speed gearbox. Due to its excellent mileage, low maintenance cost and reliability, Splendor Plus has been the first choice of Indian customers for a long time.

Honda Shine 100 DX

Honda Shine 100 DX has also become cheaper than before after GST 2.0. The company has reduced its price by Rs 5,265. Now the price of its standard variant has become Rs 63,191 and the price of DX variant has become Rs 69,694 (ex-showroom). Earlier this model was available for Rs 74,959, which means now it has become cheaper by about Rs 5,000. This bike has a 98.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which generates power of 7.38hp and torque of 8.05Nm. Shine 100 DX is also equipped with a 4-speed gearbox.

Honda has added many better features to this bike, like LCD dashboard, chrome accents, sporty graphics and large fuel tank. Due to all this, this bike gives a premium look and feel in its segment, while its price is very affordable.

Which is the better deal?

If we talk about price only, Honda Shine 100 DX is about Rs 4,200 cheaper than Hero Splendor Plus. But in terms of features and riding comfort, Splendor Plus appears to be ahead of Shine DX. While the Splendor Plus has features like LED headlights, digital display, and better suspension quality, its engine has also proven reliable over the years. On the other hand, the Shine 100 DX makes for a strong option in the budget segment due to its light weight, comfortable suspension and better performance.

If you want to buy an affordable, simple and mileage-focused bike, then the Honda Shine 100 DX is a better option, but if you want a slightly more premium experience and reliable performance in the long run, then the Hero Splendor Plus offers more value.

In September 2025, the GST collection increased by 9.1 percent to Rs 1.89 lakh crore. Comparison, it was Rs 1.73 lakh crore in September 2024 and Rs 1.86 lakh crore in August 2025. Gross domestic revenue increased by 6.8 percent to Rs 1.36 lakh crore and import tax increased by 15.6 percent to Rs 52,492 crore.

With this, GST refund also increased by 40.1 percent to Rs 28,657 crore on an annual basis. In September 2025, the net GST revenue was Rs 1.60 lakh crore, which is five percent more than the previous year.

Tax rates were cut on 375 items under GST 2.0 reforms, including kitchen goods, electronic items, medicines, equipment and motor vehicles. The direct impact of these changes has been seen as relief to the common consumers and the government as better revenue growth.

Perfect treasure of government

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Monday expressed confidence that the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms will increase the market shopping and will speed up the domestic economy. He said this while interacting with local businessmen, entrepreneurs and tax experts in Indore.

On this occasion, Chaudhary said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that when the GST reforms will provide extra money in the hands of the common people, it will increase the purchase in the market and the economy will gain momentum.” He further said that the GST system led by Prime Minister Modi was implemented in 2017, although the preparation was going on about 10 years ago.

Targeting the Congress -led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, Chaudhary said that the government of that time could not succeed in implementing the GST system as the public and the state governments did not trust that government. He alleged that due to lack of credibility of the then government, the state governments could not be ready for the GST system.

GST 2.0: The government is now monitoring the prices of everyday use items like shampoo, pulses, butter and toothpaste. For this, e-commerce platforms have also been included in the scope of investigation. The objective is to ensure that the benefits of cutting GST rates reach consumers completely and correctly.

What is the matter?

After the recently implemented GST deduction (from 22 September), about 99% of the prices of about 99% of the goods should have been reduced. Complaints received that some e-commerce companies are not providing full benefits to consumers. According to news agency PTI, the government has informally warned many e-commerce operators to bring transparency in prices.

The Finance Ministry has ordered the Central GST officials to submit a monthly report of the prices of 54 common goods (brand-wise MRP). The first report was to be submitted to the CBIC (Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board) by Tuesday. Listed items include shampoo, toothpaste, butter, tomato ketchup, jam, ice cream, AC, TV, cement, diagnostic kit, thermometer, crayon etc.

Companies argument

Many e-commerce platforms described prices as “technical disturbances” after GST cuts. At the same time, some companies themselves have come forward and claimed that they are benefiting consumers by reducing prices. It is clear that the government is keeping a close watch on the e-commerce operators despite the weakening of the “anti-profit system”, so that the general public gets direct benefit of GST cut.

The strict monitoring of the government will not only affect consumers but can also be felt on shares and investors of e-commerce companies. Increasing monitoring of e-commerce companies and pressure to cut prices can affect their profits. Due to doubt among investors, there may be fluctuations in the stock in stocks. If companies cannot increase prices or have to give full benefit of GST deduction to consumers, then the profit margin can be reduced. The company’s financial health may be affected in a long time.

GST 2.0 Complaints: Reforms in Goods and Services Tax (GST) are applicable from September 22, 2025. On Monday, October 29, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare told reporters that after implementing GST 2.0, the National Consumer Helpline (Nch) has received thousands of complaints related to this. Nidhi Khare informed the journalists that “Since the GST reform, the National Consumer Helpline (NC) has received about 3 thousand complaints. For whose action, complaints are being sent to the CBIC (Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board).”

Ministry is monitoring

Giving further information, Khare said that the Ministry of Consumer is keeping a strict monitoring on all those matters. Through which the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate cuts are being spread by misleading information to avoid giving the benefit to customers, and consumers are being cheated.

The ministry is using AI and Chatbot

Khare said that the ministry is using AI and Chatbot to get the correct information about these complaints. He informed that retail sellers are not providing the benefit of cuts in GST rates to consumers. Due to which the government has had to strengthen its surveillance system.

What is GST reform?

The historical change in India’s indirect taxation system was implemented from 22 September. Which is also known as GST Reform. The tax system was made easier under the GST reform and only 2 slabs were placed in it. 5 percent and 18 percent.

Under the GST reform, many household items which come under the first 12 percent tax slab were brought to the slab of 5 percent. Due to which the prices of things used daily decreased. Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, baby products, dairy products became cheaper, as soon as tobacco, cigarette, sin goods have been taxed at a rate of 40 percent. Also, 18 percent GST on life and health insurance has also been abolished.

GST 2.0: Shopping has intensified in the festive season after the GST rate cuts. In emerging markets and metros, demand has seen an increase of 23 to 25 percent. Under the GST reform implemented from 22 September 2025, tax slabs on big screen TVs, furniture and medium range fashion products have been reduced. This led to a decrease in prices and consumers directly benefited.

major impact:

GST on big TV was reduced from 28% to 18%, declining prices by 6-8% and increased demand for premium model.
Fashion, priced below Rs 2,500, is now only 5% GST, which led to a boom in sales.
The demand for furniture also increased significantly.

According to Redseer’s report, the first two days sales have increased by 23-25% on an annual basis. The demand for GST 2.0 improvement and festive season together brought out the sales of premium smartphones and TV to a record level.

Effect on e-commerce:

The demand was so high that some apps were slow and crashed while giving orders. Amazon set a record of more than 38 crore customers in the first two days, out of which more than 70% of the customers were out of the top 9 metros. Flipkart also recorded 21% more users in the first 48 hours than last year.

Amazon India Vice President Saurabh Srivastava said that “GST Savings Utsav” received a great response and in just 48 hours, GST benefits worth crores of rupees were delivered to customers. Significantly, efforts to increase domestic demand and GST reform have been announced at a time when India’s economic speed remains above six percent.

On the other hand, the pressure on India is also increasing globally. The US has not only imposed a base tariff 25 percent but has also applied an additional 25 percent penalty tariff due to purchasing oil from Russia. This step has been taken by the Trump administration in an attempt to stop Ukraine War. In this way, on the one hand the government is promoting domestic consumption and festive purchases through GST reforms, on the other hand, India is facing American tariff on the international front.

GST 2.0: To reduce the tax burden on people, the government has cut GST rates. Due to this, the prices of things and services of most important and daily use have been reduced. But many reports have revealed that shopkeepers and e-commerce stores have not yet reduced the prices of these items. The difference between tax deduction and prices being charged by shopkeepers is increasing concern whether GST cuts are really benefiting to consumers.

Government issued helpline number

There has been a flood of complaints against shops and online stores on behalf of people. Consumers say that the impact of GST rate cuts is not visible on their pockets. On this, the government had to take immediate steps so that the buyers can get relief in the true sense.

The government has made consumers aware that if they feel that they are being overcharged, then they can easily lodge a complaint.

How to complain?

Toll-free number: 1915

WhatsApp Number: 8800001915

Online Portal: Ingram (Integrated Grievance Settlement System)

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has made it clear that consumers can file a complaint by calling or WhatsApp messages on National Consumer Helpline (NC).

Big improvement in GST

To simplify GST rates, the government has now decided to place only 2 slabs (5% and 18%) in place of 4 slabs. These reforms have reduced the prices of 99% of daily use items. The government said that it is constantly monitoring the pricing and many companies have also announced to reduce the price and reduce the price so that it can benefit the consumers.

If GST deduction does not get the benefit, then it is your right to complain against it and it is your responsibility as a consumer.

GST 2.0: The GST 2.0 reform in India came into force from Monday, September 22 and the customers showed tremendous enthusiasm. On the occasion of things cheap and discounts on the occasion of Navratri, crowds of people gathered in shops. Almost every segment has good purchases. On Monday, there was a huge jump in the sale of air-conditioner and TV sets. Since under GST reforms, many important and food items have also been reduced, so the surrounding grocery stores were also seen to be a large crowd of people. In many places, customers were also seen arguing with shopkeepers about the revised MRP on packaged food items.

Battle of e-commerce companies

Due to the low prices of many things in GST 2.0, consumer spending is likely to increase in the festive season. A large part of the annual revenue of e-commerce companies is generated by sales in the festive season. Experts believe that improvement in GST can lead to a bounce of 15-20 percent in the festive season sale as the demand for electronics items of many premium categories can be seen. According to media reports, Prateek Shetty, Vice President of Growth and Marketing in Flipkart, said, “We are looking at the improvement in GST as a revolutionary change, which will promote consumption and provide things to customers on the right value in this festive season.”

Packed crowd seen at shops

Despite the first day of the working week on Monday, a crowd of customers was seen from the automobile showroom to the online platform. Earlier, there were four slabs, 12 percent, 18 percent and 28 percent in the GST structure of the country, which has now been divided into two slabs- 5 percent and 18 percent. This has made about 99 percent of daily use cheaper, which has given a lot of relief to consumers.

Alam is that with the implementation of the tax reform, people started shopping. In e-commerce company Flipkart and Amazon, retailers saw a jump in categories ranging from fashion to domestic essential commodities. Orders of fashion brand Snich also gained 40 percent, while The Pant Project recorded an increase of 15-20 percent compared to last year. Shadow Itel also saw an increase of 151 % in the traffic of domestic essential commodities as compared to last week.

TV-AC also sold a lot

TV manufacturing company Super Plastronics Private Limited (SPPL) CEO Avneet Singh Marwah, which has a license for all global brands like Thomson, Kodak, Blogt, said that sales have jumped 30 to 35 percent on the first day of GST 2.0. He said, “Sales of 43-inch screen size and 55-inch screen size TV sets rose by 30 to 35. During this time the air conditioner also sold a lot.
