GST 2.0 Complaints: Reforms in Goods and Services Tax (GST) are applicable from September 22, 2025. On Monday, October 29, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare told reporters that after implementing GST 2.0, the National Consumer Helpline (Nch) has received thousands of complaints related to this. Nidhi Khare informed the journalists that “Since the GST reform, the National Consumer Helpline (NC) has received about 3 thousand complaints. For whose action, complaints are being sent to the CBIC (Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board).”

Ministry is monitoring

Giving further information, Khare said that the Ministry of Consumer is keeping a strict monitoring on all those matters. Through which the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate cuts are being spread by misleading information to avoid giving the benefit to customers, and consumers are being cheated.

The ministry is using AI and Chatbot

Khare said that the ministry is using AI and Chatbot to get the correct information about these complaints. He informed that retail sellers are not providing the benefit of cuts in GST rates to consumers. Due to which the government has had to strengthen its surveillance system.

What is GST reform?

The historical change in India’s indirect taxation system was implemented from 22 September. Which is also known as GST Reform. The tax system was made easier under the GST reform and only 2 slabs were placed in it. 5 percent and 18 percent.

Under the GST reform, many household items which come under the first 12 percent tax slab were brought to the slab of 5 percent. Due to which the prices of things used daily decreased. Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, baby products, dairy products became cheaper, as soon as tobacco, cigarette, sin goods have been taxed at a rate of 40 percent. Also, 18 percent GST on life and health insurance has also been abolished.

GST reforms: Sharadiya Navratri begins on 22 September, 2025. From this day, new rates of GST will also be applicable, after which many things used in everyday life will become cheaper, such as shampoo, soap, baby products, life and health insurance etc. The government is ready to implement it equally in the country. Due to this, a portal has been launched, in which complaints related to GST can be lodged. Under the new system, a separate category has been placed on the National Consumer Helpline (https://consumerhelpline.gov.in). In this, you will be able to file complaints related to GST. It also has a sub-category, in which sectors like automobile, banking, FMCG, e-commerce have been covered.

If you want, you can also file your complaints through toll-free number 1915, Nch app, web portal, WhatsApp, SMS, Email or Umang app. This service is available in 17 regional languages ​​including Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati and Assamese. After the complaint is filed, you will also be given a unique docket number, so that you will be able to track how far the matter of action has been reached by you. To ensure timely solutions, data will be shared with the company concerned, Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board (CBIC) and other regulators.

Industry experts say that the commencement of the complaint portal will help consumers to know whether the GST rate cut on goods is being benefited or not or where people are not following it. With this, tax reforms at retail level will be applied more effectively.
