During Navratri, Mercedes-Benz set a new record by selling more than 2,500 cars in just 9 days, taking its total sales to almost Rs 1,600 crore. This has been one of the biggest sales ever under the company’s ‘Dream Days’ campaign. The recent reduction in GST, especially the removal of Compensation Cess, has reduced the tax burden on luxury cars – earlier, 22% Compensation Cess had to be paid along with 28% GST, now only 40% GST is applicable. The impact of this direct 10% tax cut was clearly visible on the sales of Mercedes-Benz. A tremendous increase was seen in the sales of popular models like GLS, AMG G63, GLE, GLC and EQS SUV. Along with this, models like E-Class LWB and GLE also recorded the best sales till date. In the second quarter (July-September) of FY26, Mercedes-Benz recorded total sales of 5,119 units. Companies like BMW, Audi and JLR also reduced prices by Rs 3 to 5 lakh, which led to a wave of new purchases in the luxury segment.
