Gujarat Titans entered the final of IPL 2026 by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in Qualifier-2. In the match held on Friday, Shubman Gill made 3 big records in his name by scoring a century. He along with Sai Sudarshan made a partnership of 167 runs for the first wicket, due to which the target of 215 runs also appeared small. Sudarshan was out hit wicket for the second consecutive time.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan made a good start while chasing the target of 215 runs, both of them did not play risky shots and also kept taking single doubles. Sai scored 58 runs in 32 balls, in this innings he hit 1 six and 8 fours. He was in good form, but got out hit wicket in 13 overs bowled by Brijesh Sharma. He became the first batsman to be dismissed in this manner for the second consecutive time.

Shubman Gill created history

After Sai’s dismissal, Shubman Gill completed his century, he scored 104 runs in 53 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 15 fours. He was out LBW by Jofra Archer, but when his wicket fell, Gujarat Titans were on the verge of victory. Shubman Gill has become the first player in IPL history to score 2 centuries in the playoffs. He has also become the first captain to score a century in the IPL playoffs.

Shubman Gill said on Sai Sudarshan’s hit wicket dismissal, “I don’t think I have ever seen anyone getting out like this twice in a row.
