IPL 2026 GT vs CSK, Chennai Super Kings Eliminated: Gujarat Titans won the last match of the league stage by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 89 runs. Chennai, which lost, was eliminated from the race for the playoffs. This was Chennai’s biggest defeat in the history of the tournament in terms of runs. In the 66th match of IPL 2026 played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, batting first, put 229 runs on the board for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Then while chasing, Chennai was all out for 140 runs in just 13.4 overs.

Sai Sudarshan, captain Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan made important contributions in helping Gujarat win. Sudarshan played the biggest innings for the team that came to bat first, scoring 84 runs in 53 balls by hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Apart from this, Shubhman Gill scored 64 runs in 37 balls and Butler scored 57 runs in 27 balls. Then while bowling, Mohammad Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid took maximum 3-3 wickets for the team.

Chennai batsmen got frustrated in the chase

While chasing, Chennai batsmen looked completely flustered. Shivam Dubey played the biggest innings for the team and scored 47 runs in 17 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from this, no other batsman could even cross the 25-run mark.

Apart from Dubey, Matthew Short scored 24 runs for the team, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 16 runs, Karthik Sharma scored 19 runs, Dewald Brevis scored 08 runs, Noor Ahmed scored 01 runs and Mukesh Chaudhary scored 02* runs. Apart from this, Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel and Spencer Johnson returned to the pavilion without opening their account.

Battle left among 4 teams for playoff

After Chennai is eliminated, there is a fight left between 4 teams for the playoffs. These teams include Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. Now it will be interesting to see which team can qualify for the last slot.
