Gurnoor Brar’s dream of playing international cricket for India has been fulfilled. He made his debut in the first ODI against Afghanistan and also took a wicket in his very first over. This 6 feet 5 inches tall bowler has impressed a lot in the first match. While talking on Star Sports, he told that he got the support of Shubman Gill, who was also his captain in IPL. Brar also told about his future plans.

Gurnoor Brar said, “My father has also been a national basketball player, now he is in the police and he wanted me to take up sports. I was 16 years old when I played my first district match, that too under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.” He told that after performing well in the domestic, he felt confident that he too can turn the tide of the match on his own. He also told about the time when he came as a net bowler for Gujarat Titans for the first time.

He said, “When I came to GT as a net bowler in the first year, Nehra sir (Ashish Nehra, head coach and Gujarat Titans) saw me and was very impressed. He was impressed by my height and bowling, when I came to this team, I grew after that. Along with Nehra sir, Shubman Gill has also been supporting me.” He told that Gill and Nehra push me a lot and this has been helpful for me.

Dream is to play test cricket

Gurnoor Brar said, “I had only one dream to represent India in Tests, so that dream does not happen like that. Just like everyone thinks that they have to play IPL, ODI, T20, but there is an ultimate goal and that is a Test cricket. There is nothing above that.” He further said, “When I was sleeping, my friend woke me up and told me about my selection, then I came to know that I have also been selected in the ODI team, so that feeling was different.”

Describing Dale Steyn as his favorite bowler, he said that he liked his aggression very much, he liked his way of celebrating every wicket.

He said, “My mindset was the same before and is still the same that I don’t just have to play, but I have to play well and stay there. So the same mindset will remain with me whether I am playing my first match or I am playing my 100th match.”

Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey are playing their debut international match in Dharamshala. Both were selected in the national team for the first time during Afghanistan’s tour of India and they got a chance in the playing 11 in the very first match of the ODI series. Gurnoor has made a dream debut by taking a wicket in his very first over, he is also the third tallest bowler to play international cricket for India.

Let us tell you that for the first time Team India is playing an ODI series with Afghanistan. The first match in Dharamshala was to start at 1:30 pm, the toss time was at 1 pm but due to continuous rain it got delayed. Harsh Dubey is a bowling all-rounder

Harsh Dubey was born on July 23, 2002 in Pune city of Maharashtra. 23-year-old bowling all-rounder Harsh plays for Vidarbha team in domestic. He is a left-handed batsman who also bowls with his left hand.

Harsh played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026, taking 8 wickets in 8 matches. He made his debut in IPL last year while playing for SRH, he took 5 wickets in 3 matches played last year.

Talking about Harsh’s List ‘A’ record, he has taken 31 wickets in 30 matches and scored 296 runs. Talking about T20, he has taken 34 wickets in 38 matches. He also bats well.

Gurnoor Brar is 6 feet 5 inches tall

Gurnoor Brar was given the debut cap by captain Shubman Gill, 26 year old Brar also comes from Punjab. He was born on 25 May 2000 in Muktsar. He is a fast bowler who also gets the advantage of his height. He is 6 feet 5 inches tall, he is taller than Ishant Sharma.

Gurnoor played his only match in IPL in 2023. In that match he played for Punjab Kings, he bowled 3 overs, although he could not take any wicket. In the last edition (IPL 2026), he was included in Gujarat Titans, which team reached the final. However, he remained on the bench the entire season. But his debut in International has been excellent. He dismissed Ibrahim Zadran in his very first over.
