Guru Dutt Saheb’s name is taken with great respect in Hindi cinema. Along with being an actor, he also worked as a filmmaker. He was born on 9 July 1925 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He had made many films including Aar Paar, Kagaz Ke Phool, Pyarsa, Baji, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Chaudhavin Ka Chand, Bharosa.

Married to veteran singer Geeta Dutt

Gur Dutt married veteran singer Geeta Dutt in 1953. The actor was 28 years old at that time. Geeta has given many wonderful songs to Bollywood. After marriage, both of them welcomed three children. However, the couple’s relationship did not last long. According to reports, after four years of marriage, rift started between the two. It is said that actress Waheeda Rehman was also the reason for this. Later Geeta left Guru Dutt’s house and got separated from him.

It is mentioned in the book ‘Gurudutt The Unsatisfied Story’ that after Waheeda came into Guru’s life, Geeta had said, ‘Ever since she came into our lives, life has become hell.’

Due to severe alcohol addiction, 39 year old found dead in home

After facing successive setbacks in his personal life, Guru Dutt turned to alcohol as his support. He started drinking alcohol excessively and due to this, he died under suspicious circumstances at the age of just 39. On 9 October 1964, he worked on his film ‘Bahare Phir Bhi Aayengi’, while on 10 October 1964, he was found dead in his house.
