In the world, you will get to see different types of museums. Somewhere art is performed, somewhere historical remains are saved and somewhere there is a collection of amazing discoveries of science, but a museum in the Capadosia region of Turki is completely different from all this. There are neither paintings nor rare sculptures, but the hair of thousands of women hangs on the walls. This is the reason why it knows the whole world by the name of Hair Museum of Avanos. Let’s know its story.

How the story started

The foundation of this museum was lying about 35 years ago. Galip, who lives in the city of Avnos, also known as Chase Galip, was a pottery artist by profession. A French woman came to her workshop, who was living in Turki for some time. There was a deep friendship between the two, but when the woman had to return, she cut her hair and hung her on the wall of the workshop. Starting from that day, this tradition gradually turned into a unique tradition.

Tourists also started following the tradition

After hearing the story of the French woman, every woman who would come in this workshop, she also cut a braid and hanged on the wall. Gradually, this workshop of Galip started decorating with thousands of hair and on seeing this place became famous as a hair museum.

Today, more than 16,000 women are seen hanging from walls and roof here. The name and address of every woman is also written in these hair, due to which it has become not only a strange collection but also a treasure of memories.

The topic of discussion made around the world

In 1998, the name of this museum was included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Today this place comes at number six in the list of 15 most strange and interesting museums in the world. Every year thousands of tourists visit Capadosia and come here and try to quit their memory.

Museum is also associated with emotions

This museum is not only special because of amazing things, but it also contains an emotional story. The memories of a woman are associated with every hair. People who come here do not see just a unique place, but also live the feeling of how a memory, a relationship and a symbol can become the center of attraction for the whole world.
