International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world on 8 March every year. This day is dedicated to honoring women, recognizing their contributions and achievements. In today’s time, the status of women has become much better than before, but still in many places they have to struggle for their rights. Many women are not fully aware of their legal rights, which is why many times they are deprived of the facilities and protections given to them by the law.

Women’s Day is not just a day of celebration, but it is also an occasion when women should be aware of their rights. In such a situation, let us tell you today about such important rights, about which it is very important for every Indian woman to know.

1. Right to education – Education is the strongest foundation for the development of any person. An educated woman not only progresses herself but also helps in progressing the entire family and society. In the Indian Constitution, women have been given equal rights to education as men. Under Article 15(1) and 15(3), any kind of discrimination against women is considered wrong. This means that no girl can be stopped from studying just because she is a girl. Every girl has full right to go to school, college and higher education. Education makes women self-reliant and confident, so that they can take their own life decisions.

2. Right to health – Health is the most important part of every human being’s life. It is also the right of women to get better health facilities. Many laws and schemes have been made in India to protect women’s health. Under the Maternity Benefit Act 1961, working women get the right to maternity leave and economic security during pregnancy. Apart from this, the government has started many schemes for the care of women and pregnant mothers, such as Pradhan Mantri Matritva Suraksha Yojana and other health programs, the objective of these schemes is to provide safe pregnancy and better medical facilities to women.

3. Right to equal pay and employment – Today women are working in almost every field, but many times they get less salary than men. Articles 39(a) and 39(d) of the Indian Constitution ensure that women and men get equal pay for equal work. Apart from this, under the Equal Remuneration Act 1976, it has been made necessary that if a man and a woman are doing the same work, then both should be given equal pay. Women have full right to work, start their own business and choose any profession. No institution or person can discriminate against women only on the basis of gender.

Also read – Attention If you do not wear headphones in the flight of this airline, you will be kicked out, understand the rules in advance

4. Right to security – Every woman has the right to live a safe life. Article 21 of the Indian Constitution gives every citizen the right to life and personal liberty. Many laws have been made in India for the safety of women. Like the Domestic Violence Act 2005, which protects women from domestic violence. Apart from this, Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code protects women against harassment by husband or in-laws. The objective of these laws is to protect women from physical, mental and emotional violence and to provide them a safe environment.

5. Right to property and economic freedom – Today’s women are moving rapidly towards becoming financially independent. The law also gives economic rights to women. According to the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act 2005, daughters get equal rights in their father’s property as sons. This means that daughters are also entitled to an equal share in the family property. Apart from this, women have full right to open bank accounts, invest, start business and take their own decisions on their earnings. Economic independence makes women self-reliant and strengthens their self-esteem.

Also read – Many trains on this route are canceled in March, check the list before going on the journey, otherwise you will face trouble.
