The sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar late on Monday (July 21, 2025) has created a stir in the country’s politics. His decision surprised everyone on the very first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. He submitted his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu, citing health reasons and medical advice, which was accepted. 74 -year -old Jagdeep Dhankhar was sworn in as the 14th Vice President of the country in August 2022. The announcement of the new Vice Presidential candidate from the BJP -led NDA alliance is likely to be announced soon. The strongest name in this race is believed to be of Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He is a Rajya Sabha MP of Janata Dal (United) and has been working as Deputy Chairman since 2020. Harivansh Singh is considered a close and reliable face of the central government.

The BJP can also make the current governor of a state a candidate. Like Dhankar was the Governor of West Bengal. Also, the name of experienced Union Minister or top organizational leader of the party can also be revealed. Here in Patna, when the media sought a response to the discussion of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar being in the race for the post of Vice President, Bihar government minister Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu said, “This is a good thing.
