Severe cold continued at many places in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday (January 14). A decline was recorded in both minimum and maximum temperatures. The Meteorological Department said that the night temperature in Hisar was recorded at 0.5 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees less than normal. Visibility remained low due to fog in many parts of the state and neighboring Punjab in the morning. The day temperature dropped rapidly, the maximum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 8.9 degrees Celsius, which was 10 degrees below normal.

This much temperature was recorded in Chandigarh

An official of the Meteorological Department here said that the maximum temperature recorded in Chandigarh on January 25, 2024 was 8.4 degrees Celsius and the lowest maximum temperature ever recorded was 6.1 degrees Celsius on January 8, 2013.

On Tuesday (January 13), the maximum temperature recorded in Chandigarh was 15.2 degrees Celsius. Ambala, Haryana also experienced severe cold during the day and the temperature was 9 degrees Celsius, which was nine degrees below normal. The maximum temperature in Karnal was 10.2 degrees Celsius, which was eight degrees below normal, while the maximum temperature in Hisar was 13.2 degrees Celsius, which was seven degrees below normal.

Severe cold in many areas of Punjab

The maximum temperature of Hoshiarpur in Punjab was 8.4 degrees, which is nine degrees below normal. Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Gurdaspur also experienced severe cold during the day, where maximum temperatures were recorded at 8.8 degrees, 9.6 degrees, 10.8 degrees and 11 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum temperature at these places was nine degrees below normal.

What was the temperature in Haryana?

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature was recorded at one degree Celsius in Narnaul, Haryana and 1.2 degree Celsius in Bhiwani. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.5 degrees Celsius in Gurugram, 4.9 degrees Celsius in Ambala, 3.6 degrees Celsius in Karnal, 4.3 degrees Celsius in Faridabad and 3.6 degrees Celsius in Rohtak. This temperature was five degrees lower than normal.

Meteorological Department gave this information

The Meteorological Department said that the mercury fell by 3.2 degrees Celsius in Bathinda and Faridkot in Punjab. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.5 degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur, 4.3 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, 5.4 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana, 4.4 degrees Celsius in Patiala, 5.6 degrees Celsius in Hoshiarpur and 5.4 degrees Celsius in Mansa. These temperatures were four degrees lower than normal.

Punjab-Haryana Weather News: In most parts of Punjab and Haryana, on the previous day i.e. on Thursday (May 15), the scorching heat increased people’s problems. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Bathinda, Punjab was recorded at 43.5 degrees Celsius, which was the highest in the entire state.

The temperature is continuously increasing in other cities of Punjab (Punjab). Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees, 41.8 degrees in Ludhiana and 41.4 degrees Celsius in Patiala. The temperature of Gurdaspur reached 41 degrees and mercury in Mohali reached 40.2 degrees Celsius.

Earth of Haryana also up to 43 degrees
The heat has wreaked havoc in Haryana too. The temperature in Rohtak reached 43 degrees, which was included in the warm places of the state. Both Hisar and Narnaul had a temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius, while the mercury in Ambala climbed 42.2 degrees and in Bhiwani to 42.7 degrees. Karnal was also in the grip of heat, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.6 degrees.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of both the states, also saw the effect of heat, where the temperature reached 41.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday (15 May).

Avoid getting out in the sun, keep drinking water- IMD
The Meteorological Department said that the temperature may increase further in the coming days. In such a situation, people have been advised to avoid getting out in the sun and drink sufficient amount of water. Experts believe that it is normal for the temperature to reach this level in May, but life can be affected by excessive heat for several consecutive days. Farmers and laborers have been advised to take special precautions.

Can change schools time
Due to this intense heat, there is a possibility of change in time in schools, while the Health Department has issued guidelines to protect against heat. There is no possibility of rain in the area at present, due to which there is less hope of getting relief from the heat.
