In Bihar, severe cold due to westerly winds is continuously troubling people. The weather patterns have changed since the beginning of January. Life is being affected due to cold, cold wave, cold day and dense fog.

The fog is becoming so dense in the morning and late night that it has become difficult to walk on the roads. According to the Meteorological Department, the same situation may persist on January 10 also.

How is the situation in the last 24 hours?

In the last 24 hours, the effect of cold has continued in the entire state. Dense fog remained present in many districts till 10 am, due to which people were seen hesitant in coming out of their homes. Cold-day conditions prevailed in Buxar, Munger, Chapra, Patna, Forbesganj, Saharsa, Darbhanga and Arwal. Whereas the effect of cold wave was seen in Chhapra.

Talking about temperature, the maximum temperature recorded in Sheikhpura was 20.1 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was 5.0 degrees Celsius in Sabour (Bhagalpur). Due to dense fog, visibility reduced to only 40 meters at many places.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no respite from cold and fog even on January 10. A warning has been issued regarding cold day in northern and south-western Bihar. There is an alert of dense fog in East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Supaul, Araria, Purnia, Katihar and Madhepura. Visibility may remain very low in these districts.

In most parts of the state, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. In some districts of south-east Bihar, the minimum temperature can go up to 6 to 8 degrees.

How will the weather be in the future?

According to IMD, there will be no major change in the minimum temperature in the next 24 hours. After this, the temperature may increase by 1 to 3 degrees in 48 hours, but there is a possibility of cold increasing again. Fog may also persist in the coming days.
