In such a situation, if the individual investors bought 1 crore shares at a rate of Rs 1,250 per share, then their total investment is Rs 1,250 crore. Now the upper price band of IPO is Rs 740, so the value of the share will also be reduced from Rs 1,250 crore to Rs 740. That is, there can be a loss of Rs 510 crore.

2500 crore fresh issue in IPO

This IPO of HBD includes a fresh issue of Rs 2,500 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 10,000 crore by HDFC Bank Limited, selling 13.51 crore shares under the offer-for-cell (offs) window. HDFC bought these shares at a price of Rs 46.4 and if the IPO is listed on the upper price band of 740, the bank will have a profit of Rs 9,373 crore (before tax).
