Bihar has remained at the first position in the country in terms of providing free medicines to patients for the last one year. The officers provided this information. According to the Health Department, this success has been achieved due to ensuring regular availability of medicines from medical colleges across the state to primary health centers in villages.

Officials say that from serious illnesses to treatment of common diseases like cold, cough, fever, the government is rapidly strengthening the health services infrastructure. In the monthly ranking of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bihar had achieved the first position in October last year by defeating Rajasthan with 79.34 points and since then it has remained at this position continuously. In October this year, again Bihar retained the top position by scoring 81.35 marks. Rajasthan is at second place with 77.77 points and Punjab is at third place with 71.80 points.

According to health department officials, the state has started the service of 165 medicine vehicles equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) to ensure the supply of medicines and other medical supplies. Through these vehicles, medicines are being supplied on time to government hospitals and health centers, especially in rural areas, which has reduced the dependence on private medicine shops.

Every year 6.5 crore patients come for treatment

According to the department, QR codes have been installed in all health institutions so that patients can easily get information about medicines available in government hospitals. With this, patients and their relatives can know which medicines are available in the concerned hospital. Officials said that there are about 10,626 government health centers in the state, where about 6.5 crore patients come for treatment every year. In these, free medicines are being provided to a large number of patients.

The Health Department says that this system has provided the most relief to poor and backward class people, who earlier had difficulty in purchasing expensive medicines. According to Health Department officials, a comprehensive action plan was prepared about two years ago during the tenure of the then Additional Chief Secretary of the department, Pratyaya Amrit. As a result, Bihar has remained at the first position in the country for a year in terms of providing free medicines in government hospitals.

Now the process of making Aadhaar card of new born has also been started in Bihar. This scheme is being started in more than one lakh Anganwadi centers of the state. At the same time, about 7 lakh 56 thousand pregnant women of the state are being given information about this new system. The Health Department has finally presented its clarification on the controversy over the syrup of cough in Rajasthan. After the death of two children in Bharatpur and Sikar districts, questions were being raised about cough dictionary dextromethorphan. But the department says that death in both cases did not happen directly due to syrup.

The department made it clear on the basis of the investigation report that the doctors had not given this medicine to the children. Despite this, action has been taken to suspend a doctor and a pharmacist for prescribing a banned cough medicine for children in a case in Sikar district.

Health Minister had ordered immediate investigation

As soon as the matter came to light, Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khivansar ordered an inquiry immediately. After this, RMSCL (Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited) banned the supply and distribution of related medicines. A three -member committee was formed and the samples of the drug were sent to the state medicine test laboratory.

Father gave medicine to the child himself

30-year-old Monu Joshi, a resident of Kalsada village in Bharatpur, went to CHC Kalsada on 25 September for the treatment of cough-cold and fever. There, the doctor gave him some medicines, including cough drug dectrumatrophon hydrobromide.

The problem occurred when Monu Joshi gave the same medicine to his three -year -old son Gagan without asking the doctor. Gagan was already suffering from colds and pneumonia. When the condition worsened, he was immediately taken to the doctor and then referred to JK Lone Hospital, Jaipur.

The doctors treated and Gagan’s health improved. He was also discharged from the hospital on 27 September. That is, the news of death in this case turned out to be completely different.

The emperor of Bharatpur was already ill

Three children drank cough medicine, in which one died. Investigation revealed that the child who died was already suffering from pneumonia. On 18 September, her mother Nahni went to sub -station for treatment, where normal medicine was given.

When the condition became critical, the emperor was referred from Bharatpur to Jaipur. He died on 22 September during treatment. That is, death was not directly related to cough medicine.

Mother herself drinks syrup in Sikar

An investigation was also done on the death of a child named Nityansh of village Khori in Sikar district. According to the report, on July 7, the child was shown in Chirana CHC, Jhunjhunu on the complaint of fever and cold. There the doctor did not write daxtromathorphan’s medicine.

But on the night of 28 September, when the child had a mild cough, his mother gave this syrup of 5 mL of cough already kept in the house. The baby was fine at night, but found unconscious in the morning. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

It has been clearly stated in the investigation report that the child died not by the medicine written by the doctor, but by giving the medicine already present in the house.

Doctor and pharmacist suspended at elephant PHC

Investigation also revealed that a doctor and pharmacist had written a banned drug of cough to the children on the elephant PHC of Sikar district. On this, the department has taken tough steps and started the action to suspend Dr. Palak (doctor) and Pappu Soni (pharmacist).

Health department issued advisory

After these incidents, the department has issued advisory regarding all doctors and common people. According to the department, doctors should follow the prescribed protocol while writing medicine.

Children should never be written dextromethorphon medicine. The patient should not take the medicine without doctor’s advice. The medicine should always be given on the basis of prescription of the doctor.

Public Health Director Dr. Ravi Prakash Sharma said that the state level control room (0141-2225624) can be contacted 24 hours for prevention, treatment and information from seasonal diseases and general diseases.

It became clear from the investigation that the reality is different from the two children who were being linked to the cough syrup in Rajasthan. In one case, the parents themselves gave medicines without advice, while in another case the child was already suffering from serious illness.

The flood waters in the Yamuna river in Noida have now started coming down slowly. But, with this, the risk of diseases has started increasing. A large number of people from the affected areas are now reaching the district hospital and health camps. Patients of diseases like malaria, dengue, skin diseases and fever are constantly coming out.

The Health Department has deployed special medical teams in relief camps set up on the banks of Yamuna. These teams are investigating people and free medicines are also being distributed. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Narendra Singh said that 12 health posts were already established during the flood. Now even after the water is descended, the department is working with full vigilance.

Outbreak of diseases increased after flood

The CMO said, “Our medical teams are constantly monitoring. If any serious condition arises, the health department is fully ready and is constantly trying to prevent diseases from spreading.”

Every year in the months of September and October, there is an increase in cases of malaria and dengue. This time too, the chances of breeding of mosquitoes have increased due to flood water. The CMO informed that since January, a total of 189 dengue cases have been registered, out of which there are only 14 active patients who are undergoing treatment.

Health department on alert mode

The Health Department has formed a total of 21 teams to prevent diseases. These include 16 ‘Operation Mosquito’ team, 4 block level team and a district level response team. So far, 188 notices have also been issued by the department, in which people have been alerted about cleanliness and prevention of mosquito -borne diseases.

The district administration has appealed that people should not allow water to accumulate, adopt anti -mosquito measures and immediately contact the nearest health center if you see symptoms of any kind of disease.

Significantly, even though the flood water is decreasing, now the biggest challenge is to stop the infection of diseases. The Health Department claims that all their teams are attentive and all possible steps are being taken to protect public health.
