<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Coldrif Syrup Ban:</strong> Amidst the cases of fake and adulterated medicines continuously emerging in the country, the Delhi government has taken a big and important step. The government has completely banned the sale, use and distribution of Coldrif cough syrup. This decision has been taken because it has been confirmed that this medicine contains dangerous chemicals, which can prove to be extremely dangerous for health.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The special thing is that this medicine is given to treat cough and fever in children, but till now 20 children have died in different states due to its consumption, after which this issue has become a matter of concern at the national level. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Government issued notice </strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Drug Control Department of the Delhi government issued a public notice on October 10, informing that a dangerous chemical diethylene glycol has been found in Coldrif syrup. This chemical is very toxic to the body and can cause serious health problems. There may even be a risk of death due to this. This chemical is usually used in industrial purposes, but if it gets mixed with medicines, it can cause kidney failure, liver damage and other life-threatening diseases. This is the reason why it has been declared an adulterated medicine and orders have been given to remove it from the market with immediate effect.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Many states took strict steps</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Delhi is not the only state to ban this medicine. Apart from Delhi, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Punjab have also banned the sale and use of Coldrif syrup. At least 20 children have died due to this syrup and the treatment of some is still going on. There has been a stir in the entire country after this incident. At the same time, Delhi government has also warned the common people not to consume Coldrif cough syrup in any form. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the government report, this syrup is made by a company called Sisson Pharmaceutical, whose plant is located in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. The investigation found that batch number SR-13, which was produced in May 2025 and whose shelf life is till April 2027, contained 42.28% w/v of diethylene glycol. This quantity is much more than normal and is considered directly dangerous for health. </p>
