<p style="text-align: justify;">In the research conducted by ICMR and Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, data has been collected from door to door of people above 20 years of age in 30 states, union territories and Delhi-NCR. This research has also revealed that the amount of protein in the diet of Indians is less and saturated fat is more. Consuming too many carbohydrates increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity and increased belly fat. According to this report, people who consumed more carbohydrates than the minimum intake were found to have 30 percent higher risk of diabetes, 22 percent higher risk of obesity and 15 percent higher risk of increased belly fat. At the same time, consuming only whole grains is also not completely safe. Instead of wheat, millet or rice, you should consume whole grains, but if its quantity is high then the risk of type 2 diabetes does not reduce.</p>
<p><strong>What do experts say?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Regarding this research, experts say that rice and roti have a major contribution in the Indian plate and protein is often less. Both processed and simple carbohydrates can increase the risk of diabetes. In such a situation, high-fibre, whole grains are a better option instead of refined flour rotis. In this way, the use of long polished rice should be reduced with awareness.</p>
<p><strong>preventive measures</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It has been clearly stated in this research that necessary steps have to be taken to reduce the risk of metabolic diseases. For this, people will have to reduce the amount of carbohydrates and saturated fat in their food. At the same time, protein-rich and plant-based food will have to be promoted. <p style="text-align: justify;">AIIMS professor and media spokesperson Dr. Reema Dada described this decision as a very important and positive step. He said that nowadays the problem of obesity among people is increasing very fast. It is being seen not only among the elders, but also in children. Earlier diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure were only in elders, they are now happening in children. He explained the biggest reason for this to the unhealthy lifestyle, in which people eat more oil and sugar food. In these, fast food causes the most damage. It has a direct effect on the body and increases the risk of serious diseases like obesity, heart disease, diabetes.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>New initiative will be held in AIIMS Hospital</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Dr. Reema also told that the directors of AIIMS were already in favor of such an initiative. He had said that healthy food should be served in cafeteria and canteen of the hospital. Board related to sugar and oil should be installed there, which will increase awareness among the people. Now this instruction is being fully implemented. Under this initiative, boards will now be installed at AIIMS canteens and places of food, on which it will be clearly written that how many calories, how much oil and how much sugar is being served. With this, every person will be able to become aware of their food and will avoid taking excess oil or sugar.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Another step towards healthy India</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In a large and prestigious institution like AIIMS Delhi, such an initiative can become an example for the whole country. This effort of the Ministry of Health will inspire not only patients, but also common people to adopt healthy lifestyle. <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Mexico bans junk food:</strong> The government&#8217;s ban on junk food in Mexico schools has come into effect from Saturday (March 29). Officials say that this step has been taken to deal with the increasing obesity and serious diabetes problems in the country.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This new rule which was first released last year, stops salty and sweet packed foods that have become part of the diet of Mexican children. These include sweet fruit juice, packet chips, artificial boar peels and chili spicy soy-rich peanuts.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Ministry of Education of Mexico said this in its post</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Ministry of Education of Mexico announced that the ban on junk food has now become a law. Posting on X, it wrote, &#8216;Goodbye, junk food!&#8217; Parents were also encouraged to make healthy food for their children at home and cooperate in this campaign of the government.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Public Health Secretary Mario Delgado said, &#8220;One of the main goals of the new Mexican school system is to promote healthy life.&#8221; He also informed that parents are fully supporting this rule.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Plan will be implemented in a phased manner</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the new rule of Mexico, schools will have to gradually remove all the food and drink items that have more salt, sugar, calories or fat and have black warning labels. Mexico implemented this mandatory labeling system in 2020.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Under this junk food ban, which came into force from Monday morning, schools will now have to give healthy options like Bean Tacos instead of junk food and also provide plain drinking water.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Mexican President also released a statement</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Mexico President Claudia Shinbam said, &#8220;It is better to eat bean taco than the packet of potato chips.&#8221; According to UNICEF, Mexico&#8217;s children eat the most junk food throughout Latin America. For this reason, obesity has become a serious problem in children. The agency&#8217;s report states that 40% of the total calories taken by children come from Chinese -rich drinks and more processed foods.</p>
