We often think that heart attacks or strokes happen suddenly without any warning, but the truth is quite different from this. Recently, a major research published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology has revealed that heart attacks and brain strokes do not happen suddenly, but are the result of our lifestyle mistakes.

In this study, data of more than 6 lakh people of Korea and more than 1200 patients of America was seen. The result of the research was shocking. In this research, 99 percent of the patients had at least one major risk factor present before heart attack or stroke, which means that if we want, we can save the health of our heart and brain by identifying these risks in time. Let us know what are the causes of 99 percent stroke and heart attack and how to avoid them.

1. High blood pressure – The study found that 96 percent of the patients had high blood pressure. It is a silent killer, because it gradually affects the most important organs of the body, especially the heart and brain, without causing any symptoms. High BP puts more pressure on the arteries, which weakens the heart muscles and also increases the risk of stroke. To avoid this, reduce salt intake, walk for 30 minutes daily or do some light exercise, try to reduce stress and keep getting BP checked regularly.

2. Smoking – In this research, 68 percent of the patients were smokers. The chemicals present in cigarettes shrink the arteries, which reduces both blood flow and oxygen supply. Due to this, the heart does not get full oxygen and the danger gradually increases. To avoid this, quit smoking immediately, be it beedi or cigarette, seek nicotine replacement therapy or doctor’s help and maintain distance from smokers at home.

3. High cholesterol – Due to increase in bad cholesterol, plaque starts accumulating on the inner walls of blood vessels. This plaque later becomes a blockage, which causes heart attack or stroke. There is also good cholesterol in the body which helps in keeping the arteries clean, but if the balance gets disturbed then the risk increases. In such a situation, to avoid this, stay away from fast food, fried food and trans fat, take foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids and get blood tests done regularly.

4. High blood sugar – For people who have diabetes, the risk of heart disease and stroke is double that of normal people. When the sugar level in the body increases, the blood vessels become hard and blood flow stops. In such a situation, to avoid this, reduce sweets and flour products, get blood sugar checked regularly, eat fiber rich food and control sugar through regular exercise.

The risk is increasing rapidly among women also

Earlier it was believed that the risk of heart attack was less in women, especially before the age of 60. However, according to this study, some risk factor was found in more than 95 percent of the cases even in women below 60 years of age. This risk is increasing rapidly in women due to hormonal changes, stress and unhealthy diet. Therefore, it is important to get hormonal checkups done during periods and menopause, adopt meditation and healthy lifestyle to deal with stress, do not ignore your health and get regular health checkups done.

Heart Attack Causes: A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Malwa in Madhya Pradesh. The employee working here suddenly had a heart attack and died. The surprising thing was that the owner and the rest of the employees were just looking at the laborer suffering from pain, no one came forward to help him. The video of this entire incident is going viral on social media. According to media reports, the whole matter is of Tirupati Traders based in Susner. This incident happened on 6th October (Monday), when while working, he suddenly felt chest pain and fell on the chair. He continued to suffer from pain for about 6 minutes and later he died. This is not the first case, cases of heart attack have been happening suddenly for some time and people are losing their lives due to this. Let us tell you how many heart attack cases have occurred in the last seven days.

How many heart attack cases in 7 days

Last week, many heart attack cases have been reported in the country and abroad. The biggest case in this was the death of Punjab’s bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman due to heart attack at the age of 42 on October 9. Shocking news came from Gokak area of Karnataka, after hearing the news of brother’s death, the elder brother had a heart attack and died. While celebrating Karva Chauth on October 10, a woman suddenly collapsed in Barnala, Punjab and died on the spot. It is reported that he died of heart attack. A woman also died in Nagpur, according to reports it was also said to be a heart attack related case. At least 5 to 6 separate cases have been reported from October 6 to 13 where heart attack or cardiac arrest has been cited as the cause of death. At the same time, 1 to 2 cases were also reported in different countries of the world. These are the figures which were reported in the media. Apart from these, there are many cases which are not even reported.

Symptoms and prevention

Amidst the increasing cases of heart attack, you should know about its symptoms and prevention, what are its symptoms and how can it be prevented. Common symptoms of a heart attack include sudden sharp pain, feeling of heaviness or pressure, pain spreading to the arm, neck or jaw, shortness of breath even while doing light work, sweating without any reason, especially cold sweat, sudden nervousness or fear and nausea, vomiting or sudden dizziness. However, it is worth noting that the symptoms may be different and mild in women, elderly people and diabetic patients. If we talk about prevention, then pay attention to your diet, avoid eating too much fried and roasted food. Apart from this, include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dry fruits and Omega-3 rich food in your diet, do yoga for 30 minutes daily, stay away from smoking and alcohol and keep your weight under control because obesity doubles the risk of heart attack.

Recently, Registrar General of India released the “Causes of Death: 2021-2023” report under the Sample Registration Survey. The report revealed that one -third of the deaths in India die due to cardiovascular disease. This figure clearly shows that heart diseases have now become the biggest cause of death in the country. Let us tell you in detail about the report.

Increased danger of non-commercial disease

The report said that 56.7 percent of the total deaths in India are due to non-commercial disease. This includes heart disease, cancer, diabetes and respiratory diseases. At the same time, 30 percent of deaths, including communal disease, maternity and children related problems and nutritional conditions, cause deaths. The figure was slightly different in the time of Kovid-19 (2020-2022), but now non-commercial disease has become a major cause of deaths.

Major causes of deaths

The top causes of deaths in the report are stated as follows-

Cardiovascular Diseases: 31 percent deaths.

Respiratory Infections: 9.3 percent.

Neoplasms / Tumor: 6.4 percent.

Respiratory Diseases: 5.7 percent.

Digestive Diseases: 5.3 percent.

Fever of unknown origin: 4.9 percent.

Other Injuries: 3.7 percent.

Diabetes Mellitus: 3.5 percent.

Genitourinary Diseases: 3.0 percent.

Deaths according to age

Cardiovascular disease is the biggest threat in this age group.

The age of 15 to 29 years- The most common reason here is International Injuries.

70 years and up- Most of the deaths in the elderly occur due to Il-Defined or unclear reasons.

Report warning

The report also states that sometimes there may be miscarriage in the causes of death. But despite this, this data will help the government and health agencies understand the real cause of deaths in the country and make better policies. It is clear from the report that heart disease is the biggest cause of death in India and every third person dies because of it. Changing lifestyle, stress, poor diet and sedentary lifestyle are further enhancing it. In such a situation, it is very important for people to pay attention to their heart health, right diet and regular health checkup. Experts say that government and health agencies should also conduct awareness campaigns so that heart diseases and other non-commercial diseases can be reduced.
