Why Women Have Lower Risk Of Heart Attacks Than Men: Heart attack has become one of the most dangerous and common diseases of today’s time. This happens when the flow of blood to the heart stops. Usually this blockage occurs in the coronary arteries, where cholesterol, fat and other substances accumulate. This condition is called coronary artery disease, which is the biggest reason for the increasing cases of heart attacks.

What is the reason?

There are many risk factors behind heart attack, ignoring which can prove costly. High cholesterol, increasing age, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, genetic reasons, tobacco and alcohol consumption, excessive stress and chronic heart problems all increase the risk of heart attack.

Why is there less risk in women?

Dr. According to the report of KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, there is a difference in the cases of heart attack in men and women. This disease is dangerous for both, but statistics show that men are more at risk. The average age of first heart attack in men is around 65 years, whereas in women it is seen around 72 years. This means that this risk increases in women about 10 years later than in men.

Also read- Vitamin Side Effects: Be careful! Taking this vitamin without medical advice may prove costly and may cause loss of eyesight.

What is the reason behind the difference?

Many possible reasons are considered behind this. Experts believe that the risk of heart attack is reduced in women before menopause, one reason for which may be estrogen hormone. Although, this has not been completely proven, but it is believed that this hormone protects the heart health to some extent. On the other hand, men consume more tobacco and alcohol, which are major causes of heart diseases. Apart from this, the ability of men to handle stress is also considered to be less than that of women. Constant stress and mental pressure have a bad effect on the heart, which can increase the risk of heart attack.

How can we protect ourselves?

It is important to understand that heart attack can be completely prevented, if precautions are taken in time. It is very important to have regular health checkups and keep blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure under control. Even small changes in lifestyle can make a big difference. Taking a healthy diet, which is rich in fruits and vegetables and less in fat, salt and sugar, is beneficial for the heart.

Is belly fat dangerous for heart health?Every year on World Obesity Day, a question arises again: Is weight alone the real problem? For a long time, body weight and BMI were considered most important to measure people’s health. But now many researches show that more important than the amount of fat in the body is where it is deposited. The weighing machine cannot tell whether there is more muscle or fat in the body and it cannot also show whether fat is accumulated around the internal organs or not.

What is belly fat?

Fat accumulating around the abdomen, commonly known as belly fat, can increase the risk of heart diseases. This happens even in people whose weight appears normal. Actually, not every type of fat in the body behaves the same. Fat accumulated around the hips and thighs is considered less harmful, but fat accumulated in the inner part of the stomach, around the liver, pancreas and intestines can be more dangerous for the body.

What is the problem?

This internal fat releases chemicals that increase inflammation in the body, affects the way insulin works, increases blood pressure and can disturb the balance of cholesterol. Dr Varun Bansal told TOI that when it comes to heart health, it is not just the weight but the distribution of fat in the body that is more important. Increasing fat, especially around the abdomen, can increase the risk of heart attack and coronary artery disease.

What is the problem in India?

In India this problem is considered more serious. According to the INDIAB study of the Indian Council of Medical Research, despite being of normal weight, many Indians were found to have increased waist circumference, as well as high blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure. This condition is called normal weight obesity or metabolic obesity. That means a person may look thin, but the fat accumulated inside the stomach can become a threat to the heart.

Read this also- Kidney Disease Symptoms: Be careful! Kidney disease is often ‘silent’, do not ignore these signs

According to experts, waist circumference is considered an important indicator for Indians. Waist should be less than 90 centimeters in men and less than 80 centimeters in women. It is also very easy to measure, it can be measured by placing a tape around the navel while standing straight and exhaling normally.

How can we reduce this?

Crash diet is not always the right solution to reduce belly fat, because it can also lead to loss of muscles. Instead, regular exercise, especially strength training, eating adequate protein, less processed carbohydrates, adequate sleep and controlling stress are considered more effective methods.
