This time (2025) NDA has won 202 seats in the assembly elections. Accordingly, it has been decided that this time no one from RJD will be able to go to Rajya Sabha. Two seats will remain with JDU and two will go to BJP. In such a situation, the question regarding the remaining seat is whether it will go to Chirag Paswan’s account or will it be given to Jitan Ram Manjhi?

Where did the controversy regarding a seat start?

In fact, Jitan Ram Manjhi said in his speech during a function in Gayaji last Sunday that we had asked for two seats in the Lok Sabha and got one seat, now we are not getting even a single seat in the Rajya Sabha. Two JDU and two BJP and one seat is going to LJP Ram Vilas. He told his son Santosh Suman to make up his mind on this, why will we not get it? If we don’t get it then we will break the alliance. After this statement of Manjhi, a controversy has come to light regarding a Rajya Sabha seat in NDA.

Dhirendra Kumar, who understands the politics of Bihar and is a political expert, says that Jitan Ram Manjhi is already doing politics of pressure. According to the current discussion, Chirag Paswan seems to have the upper hand. Talking about numbers, Chirag Paswan has 19 MLAs, Jitan Ram Manjhi has five MLAs. Manjhi is creating pressure so that if he does not get a Rajya Sabha seat, then he should get a seat in the Legislative Council. Dhirendra Kumar said that two seats will remain with BJP, in such a situation it is not necessary that BJP should keep both the seats with itself. Can give one seat to his colleague. Most of the discussion is about Chirag Paswan.

On the other hand, it was also said that it is not necessary that Nitin Nabin should get one of the two seats in Rajya Sabha, there is no such rule nor is there any pressure. When Nitin Gadkari became the national president, he was a member of the Legislative Council in Maharashtra. Despite being the National President, he remained a member of the Legislative Council. He did not resign. It is not mandatory for the National President to go to Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha. There is no problem if he is a member of any state.

Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has once again expressed his displeasure over seat sharing in the ruling coalition party NDA in Bihar. In Gaya, he clearly said that his party should get its due rights in NDA, especially in Rajya Sabha.

Jitan Ram Manjhi said, “Even now we do not say that seats will not be given. We were seeing in the news that it was being said that JDU was being given 2 Rajya Sabha seats, BJP 2 and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) one seat. In such a situation, where is Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular)? That is why we should demand.”

‘Promised to give Rajya Sabha seat in 2024’

Referring to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Manjhi said, “At that time we were told that two Lok Sabha seats would be given. Later it was said that one Rajya Sabha seat would be given. At that time we were given one Lok Sabha seat and we also won that election.”

He further said, “We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making us a minister, but today one Rajya Sabha seat is outstanding.” Manjhi further said, “Based on the results of the 2024 elections and the Lok Sabha, Hindustani Awam Morcha should get a seat in the Rajya Sabha elections to be held in April. This is my demand.”

Jeet Ram Manjhi says that he is saying this to his party officials because we are not officials in the party. Our national president can make demands, our spokesperson can make demands, our principal secretary can make demands. We are the patrons of the party, that is why we are saying this to the party people.

Response to speculations of separation

On discussions about separation from the NDA, Manjhi said, “As far as separation is concerned, as long as the organization is with us, perhaps no one will talk about separation. People are misrepresenting it. We said that today we are not a recognized party because we do not have 8 seats. If we had got at least 10 seats and we had won 8, we would have become a recognized party.”

Aim to become a recognized party

Jitan Ram Manjhi said, “We should contest elections on 50, 60 or 100 seats. If we contest elections, we will get 6 percent votes and we will become a recognized party. We are saying this only so that our party can get recognition.”

Rabri Devi, wife of former Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, has received a notice to vacate her residence located at 10 Circular Road. ‘Government can change residence whenever it wants’

This is the reason why he himself vacated his residence after losing the election. So no kind of politics should be done in this too. This is a government residence and it belongs to the government. The government can change the residence whenever it wants.”

When Nitish Kumar resigned from the post of Chief Minister and made Jitan Ram Manjhi the Chief Minister, all these arrangements were made for Nitish Kumar also. However later this rule changed.

Jyoti Manjhi, the NDA candidate from Barachatti assembly seat in Gayaji district and the current HAM MLA from here, has been attacked. This incident happened when she had gone out for a public relations campaign in her constituency on Wednesday (November 05, 2025). Near Sulebatta turn two youths riding a bike threw stones at him. Due to this, candidate Jyoti Manjhi suffered a head injury.

HAM’s preparation to contest elections on 100 seats

Party president Jitan Ram Manjhi had initially demanded 15 seats and warned that if they did not get the required share, HAM could contest 100 seats alone. After finally adjusting the alliance, NDA gave 6 seats to HAM, which is less than Manjhi’s demand.

This deal gives mixed signals for HAM. Happy to get 6 seats, but Manjhi’s expectations and pressure are also no less.
