In the year 1570, Emperor Akbar returned to Agra from Patan city of Punjab and traveled to several places. During this time, he stayed in the hospitality of local Hakimas in Deepalpur and Lahore. Akbar stayed here for two-three days and enjoyed the feast and then reached Ajmer via Hisar. In Ajmer, he spent a few days at the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and moved towards Sikri.

According to the book Glimpse of Indian History, Akbar Sheikh Salim Chishti’s house after reaching Sikri. This was a unique example of that time when an emperor makes a saint’s house his residence. According to Abul Fazal, Akbar’s sons were born in Sikri, which made him look more dear to this place. The emperor ordered that Sikri should be decorated with royal splendor. As a result, a grand palace, stone boundary wall, school, bathroom and market were constructed here. In a few years, Sikri became a rich city, which became famous as Fatehpur Sikri.

Where did Akbar spend most of the time of life?

In these years, Akbar spent most of life’s time among hunting, feasts and courtiers. The habit of playing Chaupar kept him busy with the women and courtiers of Haram for a long time. Sometimes the defaulters of the courtiers forced them to take strict action. In 1572, the rebellion of Mirzas in Gujarat and the activities of Mirza Hakim, the ruler of Kabul, worried Akbar. He sent forces towards Nagarkot and Kabul and prepared for the Gujarat campaign himself.

When did a new turn come under Akbar’s reign

Meanwhile, a Begum of Akbar’s harem in Ajmer gave birth to a son in September 1572. This child was named Danial. The emperor ordered that after a month, Danial should be handed over to King Bharmal of Amer for rationalization.

The establishment of Fatehpur Sikri and the birth of Danial gave a new twist to Akbar’s reign. While on the one hand he gave a grand appearance to his capital, on the other hand he also made military preparations to face the challenges of Gujarat and Kabul.

India’s great Mughal Emperor Akbar traveled to Ajmer continuously for about 12 years and attended the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, but suddenly after 1579 he stopped going to Ajmer. The question is why?

Historians say that Akbar’s religious attitude was gradually changing. He did not want to be limited to Islam only, but also made a new path by combining all religions. With this thinking, he started Deen-e-Ilahi.

What did Abdul Qadir Badauni say?

Mulla Abdul Qadir Badauni wrote in his book Muntakhab-Ut-Tawariikh that some people smiled at Akbar’s dargah and said, “How surprising that the emperor believes in Khwaja but has left the Prophet’s path.” Badauni targeted Akbar through sarcastic poems and said that this attitude was annoying Muslims.

Historians believe that by this time Akbar’s religious views had changed. He was moving towards “human religion” instead of believing in one religion. This was the period when he laid the foundation of Deen-e-Ilahi. Akbar started considering himself as an messenger of Allah.

Mullas reacted sharply to this attitude of Akbar

The Mullas reacted sharply to this attitude of Akbar. Many issued fatwa against him and even planned to put his brother Hakim Mirza on the throne. Due to this controversy, Akbar stopped Ajmer trips.

However, he did not completely break his relationship with Ajmer. In 1580, Akbar appointed Abdurrahim Khankhana as Nazim of Ajmer and sent his son Mirza Danial to the dargah in the same year. Danial distributed Rs 25,000 to Faqirs there. Later Akbar’s wife Salima Begum and her sisters also reached Ajmer, who brought Shahzada Salim to Agra with security.

Historians believe that after 1579, Akbar’s focus was focused on strengthening his new ideas and power after 1579. This was the reason that he completely stopped traveling to Ajmer.

Akbar took control of Surat Fort in March 1573. After this victory, Akbar drank a lot of alcohol during the celebration. This incident has been mentioned in Rahul Sankrityan’s book ‘Akbar’. While drinking alcohol, Akbar buried his sword in the wall and started trying to break the sword from his chest after being drunk. However, seeing this, Raja Mansingh tried to stop Akbar, but Akbar pushed him. As soon as Akbar was about to hit the chest with the sword, Mansingh pulled the sword, causing the Mughal emperor colliding and saved his life. After which Akbar got angry and started strangling Mansingh. The courtiers saved Man Singh’s life by intervening.

According to historians, Akbar was also addicted to dried intoxication. Vincent Smith writes that alcoholism was innate weakness in the lineage of Timur Lung. Akbar’s grandfather Babur and father Humayun were also addicted to drugs. Akbar’s sons Murad and Danial also died of excessive drinking. Christian pastor Aquiva writes that Akbar used to drink so much alcohol that he used to sleep while talking to people.

Akbar female love and harem
According to Abul Fazal and Christian Pastor rumor, Akbar’s inclination towards women and harem was also deep. The liquor shop was opened near the palace, where prostitutes used to gather from all over the state. Rumors write that Akbar also heard the rebuke of priests several times for relationships with women, but he did not desist from his habits. Historian P.N. According to Oak, Akbar’s life remained connected to drugs and female love.

Akbar and Mansingh episode
The incident of Mansingh’s strangulation, his drunken tendency and anger, after Akbar after Surat victory is a great example. If the courtiers had not intervened, Man Singh would have lost his life. At that time, Man Singh could only protect the Kachhwaha dynasty of Amer, because King Bharmal was old and Bhagwandas was in an injured state. This incident proves that Akbar’s habits sometimes caused a serious crisis for his rule and relationships.
