These days, huge stock of spices has accumulated in the major markets of Rajasthan. According to traders, orders from abroad have reduced, due to which goods are not able to go out. Especially a decline has been recorded in the prices of turmeric, coriander, cumin and other spices. However, chilli prices have remained stable or even increased in some places, because the production of chilli was less this time.

Experts say that many countries of the Middle East are big buyers of Indian spices. Due to war and tension, economic activities there have been affected, due to which imports have reduced. Apart from this, due to increased risk on sea routes, shipping companies have increased the fares, due to which exports have become more expensive.

Cash flow in the market also reduced

Market traders say that earlier there was regular supply of goods, now there is an atmosphere of uncertainty. Due to this, the flow of cash in the market has also reduced. Farmers are also worried about not getting the right price for their crops. In many places, farmers have to sell spices at prices below their cost.

However, this situation has brought some relief for the common consumers. The kitchen budget has reduced to some extent due to the fall in the prices of spices. But this remains a matter of concern for business people.

Demand for government intervention

Traders and farmers demand that the government intervene in this matter and take necessary steps to promote exports. Also, efforts should be made to reduce shipping costs and find new markets, so that the spice industry can be brought out of this crisis.
