World Rabies Day is celebrated every year on 28 September. The purpose of this day is to make people aware of the deadly disease like rabies and explain the ways to stop it. Rabies is a virus that damages the brain and nervous system of humans and animals. If it is not treated on time, then it becomes the cause of death. Most people think that rabies are spread only by dog ​​bites, but the opinion of new research and doctors states that many more animals can also spread the disease.

What is rabies and why so dangerous?

Rabies is a viral disease caused by lyssavirus. This virus is mostly spread to humans through saliva of infected animals. The virus attacks the nervous system and causes inflammation in the brain, causing the patient to go into a coma or die. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every year around 59,000 people lose their lives due to rabies worldwide, most of which are in Asia and Africa.

How are the situation in India?

More than 95% of rabies cases in India are caused by dog ​​bites, but it is not limited to dogs. Dr. Mukund Singh, an internal medical consultant at the Accord Superspeciality Hospital in Faridabad, says that rabies is a disease that has no permanent cure. If symptoms start, it is almost impossible to save the patient. In such a situation, getting vaccine on time and correct treatment is very important.

Which animals spread rabies?

• dogs: Dogs are the largest carriers of rabies, especially stray dogs. In India, 99% of rabies cases occur due to dog bites.
• Cats: Pets or stray cats can also spread rabies if they do not have a vaccine.
• Bat: Bats bite is very high at the risk of rabies, as their bite is often not detected. Bats are the main source of rabies in America.
• Monkey: Monkeys bite or scratch can also cause rabies, especially in areas where there are more monkeys.
• Fox, Rackoon and Jackal: These wild animals can also be carriers of rabies.
• Cow, buffalo, and other farm animals: If these animals are infected with rabies, then their bites can also spread the disease.

Kerala dog attack news: A case has come up from the South Indian state of Kerala, knowing that your senses will be blown away. The case is of Malappuram district of the state. A month ago, a 6 -year -old girl was bitten by a stray dog ​​a month ago. This girl died of rabies on Tuesday. The big thing is that after the dog bites, the girl was also vaccinated, despite this, the girl could not be saved.

Family sources have told the news agency PTI that a girl named Zia Puris, a native of Peruvallur, was attacked by a stray dog ​​on 29 March. The attack on the girl took place when she went to buy sweets from a shop near her house. He said that the girl suffered a serious injury to her head, face and papers and she had been undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in the neighboring Kozhikode district for several days.

Rabies confirmed on investigation

According to family sources, the girl died in the early hours of Tuesday. The girl’s father Puris said that soon after the dog was bitten by the dog, Jia was given rabies vaccine and related medicines at the Medical College Hospital. He said that after getting the vaccine, he was discharged, but after a few days he got fever and later on investigation, rabies was confirmed.

The father said that the girl was re -admitted and she was in the intensive medical unit (ICU) for the last few days. The doctors of the hospital said that due to deep injury to the girl’s head, the infection must have reached her mind, which would have reduced the vaccine.

What to do in a dog bites?

In the event of children being bitten by the dog, show him to a good doctor. Also, get the entire body checked up. It is possible that the wounds may also be placed in a place where you do not see.
