ChatGPT will no longer be just an AI assistant. OpenAI is also going to bring the option of group chat in it. With its help, users will also be able to talk to their friends and family while using this AI assistant. It will work like a shared space, where everyone can brainstorm together and ChatGPT will work as their assistant and guide. Currently the company is testing it in New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

How will this feature work?

Group chat can be started by tapping on the people icon in the conversation on ChatGPT. If you are adding someone during an already ongoing chat, ChatGPT will create a copy of that conversation, so that the original chat can remain private. You can also invite other users to chat by sending a link and a maximum of 20 people can be added to a group chat. When you join a chat for the first time, you will have to setup a profile with the help of your name, username and photo. Group chats will be easy to find and can be joined by going to the section in the sidebar.

ChatGPT will help

Once the group is setup, ChatGPT will come to help. From planning a weekend trip to making a packing list, it will help in all tasks. Apart from this, group members will also be able to take ideas and suggestions from it. The company has trained it with new social behavior to talk in group chat. It can decide on its own when to speak and when to remain silent and it can also react with emojis. However, users will be able to get response by mentioning it anytime.

Special focus on privacy

Special attention has been paid to privacy in this feature. Group chats are completely separate from private conversations and ChatGPT will not use your personal memory in group chats. There is also an option to filter sensitive material for younger users and if parents want, they can also turn off this feature completely.
