NDA Cadets Stipend Salary: It is the dream of millions of youth to become an officer in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, but to fulfill this dream one has to go through many stages of examination. Do NDA cadets get salary even during training?

The Government of India gives stipend every month to the cadets undergoing military training, this amount is given so that the cadets can meet their needs and they do not have to face financial problems. As per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, when NDA cadets complete their initial training and reach the final stage of military academies like Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy (AFA) or Indian Naval Academy (INA), they start getting a stipend of Rs 56,100 per month. This amount has been decided on the basis of Level-10 of the pay matrix, which is considered equal to the starting salary of a new officer in the army. Although a stipend of Rs 56,100 has been fixed by the government, the cadets do not get this entire salary directly. From this, some necessary expenses and security related deductions are made. The purpose of these deductions is to provide future security and training related facilities to the cadets.

Money is deducted for Army Group Insurance Fund

Every cadet is provided insurance cover under the Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF). This is an important arrangement, so that the cadet and his family can get financial security in any situation. For this insurance scheme, every month an amount of about Rs 7,000 to 8,000 is deducted from the stipend.

There is also expenditure on grooming and other facilities.

During military training, the lifestyle of cadets is completely disciplined. Some expenses are also incurred on their uniform, haircut, laundry, sports equipment and other necessary arrangements. For these facilities also, a fixed salary is deducted from the stipend. However, this reduction is not very much.

How much money do cadets get every month?

After all the necessary deductions, cadets get around Rs 10,000 to 15,000 every month. This amount is usually called cash-in-hand.

The government bears the entire cost of living and eating.

The government spends most of the needs of the cadets studying in NDA and other military academies like hostel, food, medical facilities, training material and uniform. When cadets complete their training and are appointed as Lieutenant in the Army, Sub-Lieutenant in the Navy or Flying Officer in the Air Force after the passing out parade, their stipend gets converted into regular pay. After this, along with the basic salary, they also start getting many types of allowances.
