What is artificial sun?
First of all let us know what artificial sun is. This is a nuclear fusion reactor, which mimics the process of creating energy like the Sun. Scientists believe that in future this technology can become a big source of clean, safe and almost unlimited electricity.

China will make ‘artificial sun’
This project has also been told by sharing a video on social media. He has told that for making ‘Artificial Sun’ project, he has successfully tested the world’s largest superconducting fusion magnet by making it. This equipment is considered very important to generate clean and almost unlimited energy from nuclear fusion.

While sharing this video, Chinese scientists have said that the Hefei nuclear fusion project is progressing in three phases. Its goal is to generate electricity on a large scale in the future through fusion technology. Its three stages are as follows:

• Phase 1 (2022–2035): Successful demonstration of power generation from fusion experimental reactor.
• Second phase (2030–2040): To demonstrate power generation through fusion engineering reactor.
• Third phase (2040–2050): To start fusion commercial reactor commercially, so that electricity can be provided to common people and industries.

If this plan is successful, China could be among the first countries in the world to use fusion energy on a commercial scale in the coming years.

Where is ‘Artificial Sun’ being made?
This magnet i.e. artificial sun has been prepared by the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences of China. Its shape is like the English letter D. It is 21 meters long, 12 meters wide and weighs 582 tonnes. Scientists say that this magnet is bigger and more powerful than the magnets used in ITER, the world’s largest fusion project.

This will work to control the plasma with a temperature of about 100 million degrees Celsius in a strong magnetic field, which will make the fusion process possible. China claims that this technology has been developed entirely with equipment and materials made in its country. With this, its dependence on foreign supplies for fusion technology has ended.
