The Maharashtra government has announced a new initiative to reduce human-monkey conflict. Under this, the State Forest Department has issued an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), in which a provision has been made to safely catch the unruly monkeys and release them in the forest areas. This step has been taken with the aim of preventing monkey attacks and damage in human settlements as well as ensuring the safety of wildlife.

According to the SOP, a trained rescue team will be formed in the state, which will solve the monkey problems arising in human settlements. After capturing these monkeys, they will be released in forest areas at least 10 kilometers away from human settlements. This process will not only ensure the safety of people, but will also provide an opportunity to the monkeys to live a safe life in their natural habitat.

Government will give Rs 300 to catch a monkey

According to media reports, local experienced people will also be included in this scheme. Financial incentives will be given to trained persons who catch monkeys and release them at a safe place. If a person safely catches and rescues up to 10 monkeys, he will get an honorarium of Rs 600 per monkey. At the same time, if more than 10 monkeys or apes are caught in any case, then a prize money of Rs 300 per monkey has been fixed. However, the total financial assistance given in a single case will not exceed Rs 10,000.

Rs 1,000 will be given for catching five monkeys

Additionally, if a trained person catches up to five monkeys, he will get additional payment of up to Rs 1,000 as travel expenses. No separate travel expenses will be given for capturing more than five monkeys. This system is designed to encourage local people to return monkeys to forest areas in a responsible and safe manner.

Rescue team will release monkeys safely in the forest area

The Forest Department says that this initiative will reduce conflict between humans and wildlife and will increase understanding and sensitivity among people towards monkeys. Experts believe that this method of controlling unruly monkeys is more sustainable and environment-friendly. Under this scheme, monkeys will be safely released into the forest area with the help of trained rescue team and local people. The government has instructed all concerned officers and departments to play an active role. This initiative of the Maharashtra government is being considered a positive step towards increasing security in human settlements and strengthening wildlife conservation.
