On the claim of suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir to lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid, former plaintiff in the Ram Janmabhoomi vs Babri Masjid case Iqbal Ansari clearly said that there is no dispute left in the country regarding Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Masjid.

He said that building a mosque in the name of Babar is neither politically correct nor good for the society. The political importance of this statement has increased further because before the Bengal elections, the politics of temple-mosque seems to be active again.

Court’s decision respected and dispute ended – Iqbal Ansari

Iqbal Ansari reminded that on 9 November 2019, the Supreme Court had given the final verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi vs Babri Masjid dispute. The court allotted 5 acres of land to the Muslims and the Muslim community across the country respected the court’s order. He says that today there is neither any tension nor any legal fight on this issue, hence raising it again during election time seems to be just a political motive.

Politics of temple-mosque for elections in Bengal- Ansari

Attacking TMC leaders, Ansari said that elections have not started in Bengal yet, but the issue of temple-mosque is being increasingly raised in politics. He alleges that TMC leaders are bringing up Babar’s name for electoral gains, whereas it has no connection with the current situation.

He said, “We consider this to be purely political. We believe that a mosque should not be built in the name of Babar because Babar was not a messiah.” In a statement given to ANI, Ansari said that Babar did not do any such social work in India. No hospital, no school, no welfare work for any community. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to build a mosque in his name.

While giving a statement, Iqbal Ansari said that Babar neither did any work for the Hindus nor for the welfare of Muslims. Therefore, building a mosque in his name is neither religiously nor socially appropriate. He clearly said, “No mosque should be built in the name of Babar, this is our declaration.”
