The latest statement given by National Citizen Party (NCP) MP Akhtar Hussain from Rangpur seat of Bangladesh regarding West Bengal elections is in the headlines. Akhtar has expressed concern about the strength of BJP in Bengal. The Bangladeshi MP said that the exit polls and election trends in Bengal showing Bharatiya Janata Party ahead is a matter of tension for Bangladesh. He said that if BJP government is formed in Bengal then Dhaka may have to face refugee crisis.

Expressing fear of sending back alleged illegal Bangladeshis from Bengal, the Bangladeshi MP said that if BJP succeeds in forming the government in West Bengal, then it will send across the border those people whom it considers illegal infiltrators.

What did NCP MP Akhtar Hussain say?

Speaking in the Bangladeshi Parliament, the NCP MP said, ‘If the exit polls show BJP’s victory in West Bengal and if BJP forms the government there, then they will push all the ‘Kanglu’ people to Bangladesh. This will create a huge humanitarian, economic and refugee crisis for us. We are concerned about this. The word ‘Kanglu’ is used for Bengali-speaking illegal Muslim infiltrators from Bangladesh.

Bengal election results will come on May 4

In the second phase of elections for 142 assembly seats held on April 29 in West Bengal, 92.47 percent voting took place. In this way, the overall average percentage of both the phases increased to a record 92.85. BJP seems to be getting the lead in most of the exit polls. However, only after the results are declared on May 4, it will be clear whose government will be formed in the state.
