The anger of passengers against the country’s largest airline Indigo flared up for the fourth consecutive day. The video of a Nigerian woman passenger’s altercation with the airline staff at Hyderabad airport is going viral on social media. This incident took place at a time when IndiGo had canceled hundreds of flights across the country due to crew shortage and operational failure. Why did such conditions arise at the airport?

Absence of pilots and irregularities in their duty schedules are being considered as the main reasons for this crisis. Indigo has apologized and said that it is trying to provide full refund and alternative flights to the passengers. More than 197 flights have been canceled since the crisis started on December 2. This included 31 flights on 3 December, 68 flights on 4 December and 92 flights on 5 December. A passenger said, ‘Our luggage had been checked-in, but due to cancellation of flights, we remained stuck here. Now waiting for the goods for 16 hours.

A group going to Pune had to take alternative routes by cab and train, while a businessman arriving in London complained that he was supposed to reach home on the morning of December 5, but was stuck at the airport for 24 hours, hungry and thirsty. Many passengers reached the airport directly from the hospital, but their plans were ruined due to flight cancellation.

Devotees were delayed in reaching the temple, did not get darshan
The biggest problem is being faced by the devotees who were going for darshan in many cities. More than 50 devotees, who arrived on time for the annual festival of Sabarimala temple, had come from several states in South India. A devotee said, ‘The time to visit the temple has passed. Due to the delay of Indigo Airlines, questions are being raised on faith. Devotees have been protesting at the gate for the last 12 hours, but there is no result.

Indigo issued a statement citing glitches in operations, but did not give any specific time. RGIA tweeted on X and advised to contact the airlines, but the ground staff has no response.

155 flights canceled at Shamshabad airport
This is the situation not only at Hyderabad Airport but also at Shamshabad Airport. 155 flights have been canceled from Shamshabad airport in the last 4 days. According to airport sources, so far 84 departure and 71 arrival flights have been cancelled. Indigo Airlines has canceled the maximum number of flights. The airport administration has appealed for cooperation, but it is becoming difficult to control the angry passengers.

An Indigo airline flight made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport on Tuesday (December 2, 2025). This flight had flown from Kuwait to Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana in India, in which information about a bomb was received on Tuesday (2 December).

After receiving information about a bomb, flight 6E 1234 made an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). After landing, all the passengers were landed safely at the airport. After this, the bomb in the plane is being examined in the isolation bay of the airport.

Bomb threat received through email

Hyderabad Airport received a bomb threat on Indigo Airlines flight 6E 1234 through email. After receiving the threat, an atmosphere of concern was created at the airport. Immediately after this, emergency landing of the plane was done as per security protocol and investigation is being done. Fire and medical teams were also deployed at the airport to deal with any emergency.

It is noteworthy that the flight took off from Kuwait at 1:56 am between Monday-Tuesday (December 1-2, 2025), which made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport at 8:10 am on Tuesday (December 2, 2025).

Received bomb threats many times before

However, this is not the first time that a bomb threat has been made on board an airline’s passenger plane. Many airports in the country have received such threats through e-mail many times before, but when the planes were checked as per the security protocol, all these threats were proved to be false, but keeping in mind the safety of air passengers, effective steps are taken immediately to deal with any suspicious situation.

Bomb threat turned out to be false after investigation

After the emergency landing of the plane and the safe landing of all the passengers on board, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and the bomb disposal squad thoroughly searched the entire plane, passengers and their luggage. After several hours of investigation, the threat was declared false and nothing suspicious was found on the plane.

The airline issued a statement after the incident

Indigo airline issued a statement saying that the safety of passengers was given top priority. After the investigation was completed, the passengers were sent to Hyderabad in an alternative flight. This incident once again proves that aviation security agencies do not take any threat lightly and take every possible step to ensure the safety of passengers. Police have started investigating the IP address of the e-mail to identify the sender of the threat.
