Gautam adani: The Adani Group has launched the country’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck in Chhattisgarh. State Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today flagged off this truck in Raipur. It will be used in the transportation of coal from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) Gare Pelma III Opencast Coal Mines to Power Plant. This truck is capable of carrying 40 tonnes of goods up to about 200 kilometers after filling the fuel once.

There is no fear of pollution

The truck has three hydrogen tanks, which can compete with heavy diesel-powered vehicles in terms of load capacity and range. While there is no pollution. Many toxic gases such as carbon dioxide come out of diesel powered vehicles, which are not favorable for the environment.

While the use of hydrogen only brings out water and hot air. That is, there is no fear of pollution nor noise. Hydrogen is the most found element found in the world. More and more use of this will reduce diesel consumption and there will be a decrease in imports of oils from abroad, so it is one of the cleanest options of energy in the commercial vehicle sector.

There are many more benefits

Hydrogen fuel cell generates electricity by mixing hydrogen and oxygen through an electrochemical process. There are many benefits of this- due to zero carbon emissions, it is better in terms of environment, but it has another big feature. Its fueling occurs quickly. It takes only a few minutes to fill hydrogen. These also have the power to cover long distances than electric trucks.

Development of hydrogen trucks in our country is still in the initial stage, but private companies and government together are continuously carrying forward work in this direction. The price of hydrogen trucks in India is fixed on the basis of model and range and capacity. Usually their price is up to Rs 2 crore. The H2 -ICE trucks will find you in the range of 60-90 lakhs, while the price of the H2-Fcev truck is between 1 and 2 crores.

Speaking at the event, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari described the hydrogen, which has the ability to change the transport sector of India by cutting emissions and promoting self -reliance in energy. He said that “This initiative will air the change towards strong mobility in heavy-duty trucking and will help us reduce carbon in future. I appreciate Tata Motors for this move for green and smart transport.”

Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasized the role of hydrogen in change in zero-carbon economy of India. “The beginning of this trial is an important step in showing the capacity of Green Hydrogen to disarray the transport sector of India. This initiative as a National Green Hydrogen Mission shows our commitment to innovation, freedom in energy and our commitment to global climate. This trial is similar to India’s large green energy purposes, which is an important step towards long -distance cargo transport. Tata Motors won the tender for this project, which has been funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The trial aims to check their use in the real world by preparing the infrastructure required for large use of hydrogen -powered trucks.

The trial phase will run for 24 months, with 16 hydrogen based trucks with several configurations and payload capacity. These trucks equipped with hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2-As) and Pool Sale (H2-Fcev) technology will be tested on the main route including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Surat, Vadodara, Jamshedpur and Kalingnagar.
