Ginger is often considered beneficial for health. It is used to reduce digestive problems, reduce inflammation and increase immunity. But just as everything has benefits, so it can also have some side effects. Often people eat it daily due to the taste of ginger and therapeutic properties. But it is important to know some of its possible negative effects, especially if you use it regularly.

Chance of dilution of blood

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, but it can also dilute the blood. According to a study published in ‘Plos One’, ginger can prevent platelet aggregation, that is, the blood freezing process slows down. This may reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke, but may increase the risk of bleeding, especially in people who are taking anti-throwombotic medicines, such as aspirin.

Digestive problems

Ginger is often considered good for the stomach, but taking more amounts can have the opposite effect. Eating more ginger can cause digestive problems like heartburn, gas, diarrhea. A study of Food Science and Nutrition states that ginger can stimulate the stomach layer in some sensitive people and cause gastrointestinal problems.

Interaction with medicines

Ginger can interact with many medicines. According to research published in International Journal of Endocrinology and Metabology, it can affect blood sugar and blood pressure controlling drugs. This can increase the effect of diabetes drugs, which can cause hypoglycemia (blood sugar is very low).

Danger of allergy

Some people may be allergic to ginger. Its symptoms can range from light rash or rash to difficulty in breathing. If you suspect that you are allergic to ginger, then avoid eating it.

Pregnancy caution

Ginger is often suggested to pregnant women to reduce nausea and morning sickness. But taking more quantity can affect miscarriage or fetal development. According to the study of Us National Library of Medicine, pregnant women should limit the amount of ginger. Therefore, ginger is beneficial for health, but it should be consumed in balanced quantity.

Diabetes is a disease that is affecting millions of people worldwide. The number of diabetes patients in India is also increasing rapidly. According to the WHO’s 2024 report, about 7.7 million people in India are living with diabetes. The most dangerous condition for diabetes patients is diabetic shock. This is called Severe Hypoglycemia in the medical term. Let us tell you the five symptoms of diabetic shock and how to avoid it.

What is diabetic shock?

Diabetic shock is an emergency condition. When a person’s blood sugar level goes below 70 mg per deciliter (Mg/DL), then that condition is called diabetes shock. This problem occurs in those patients of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, who use insulin or other blood sugar control medicines.

When is a diabetic shock?

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease (NIDDK), diabetic shock occurs when the high amount of insulin, food deficiency or much more physical activities reduces blood sugar levels very fast. If the patient does not get treatment on time, then he can be a victim of unconsciousness and seizures. In severe cases, the patient can also go into a diabetic coma.

Five symptoms of diabetic shock

Rapid sweating and trembling: The first and common symptom of diabetic shock is suddenly excessive sweating and shivering of the body. At the same time, suddenly fast appetite and feeling restless are also a symptom of diabetes shock. This happens when the body does not get enough glucose for energy. This symptom often appears in the early stage of hypoglycemia.

Dizziness and confusion: The patient may have dizziness, headache and confusion when the blood sugar level is low. It has a seamal effect on the brain, because glucose is the main source of brain energy. During this time some people can behave like drunk.

Hard to speak and look blurred: In severe hypoglycemia, the patient may begin to look blurred or double. When the sugar level is very low, then this symptom appears. In such a case, immediate treatment is required.

Unconsciousness: The most serious symptom in diabetic shock is unconscious, seizures or coma conditions. Actually, when the blood sugar level decreases so much that the brain and other parts of the body do not get proper energy to work, then such conditions occur.

How to protect life from diabetic shock?

According to the American Diabetes Association, if the patient is conscious, then he should immediately give 15-20 grams of fast-boring sugar. The best option is 3-4 glucose tablets. Apart from this, half a cup of fruit juice, a tablespoon honey or sugar, 5-6 hard candy can be given. After this, wait for 15 minutes and check the blood sugar. If the sugar level is less than 70 mg/DL, then repeat this process. This is called ’15 -15 rule ‘.

What to do if the patient is unconscious?

If the patient is unconscious or is unable to take sugar intake oali, then glucagon can be used. Glucagon is a hormone, which increases the level of blood sugar rapidly. It can be given in the form of injection or nasal spray. If the condition of the patient does not improve or he becomes unconscious, then he should call the emergency number and go to the hospital.
