Iran Nuclear Program: Amidst the tension between America and Iran, new satellite photos have raised a big question. An investigative report by CNN has claimed that Iran is re-construction work on some of its suspected nuclear sites. These activities have come to light at a time when Iran had promised not to develop nuclear weapons under the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries last month. Now these pictures have increased the possibility of violation of this agreement.

What was seen in satellite photos?

CNN analyzed satellite images in collaboration with the Institute for Science and International Security. According to the report, the maximum activity has been seen in the Parchin nuclear complex, where the possibility of explosive tests related to nuclear weapons has been raised earlier also.

According to the report, before the joint attack by America and Israel, Iran had created a concrete protective layer around this complex. This part was damaged in the attack, but in new photographs from June and July, repair and construction work is seen resuming there.

Movement on Pickaxe Mountain too

The report also mentions Pickaxe Mountain, which is considered a sensitive site related to Iran’s nuclear program. Satellite images have shown movement of vehicles inside the tunnels. Experts say that such activities cannot be considered in accordance with the terms of the agreement with America and this has raised new questions.

Activities also on nuclear and missile sites

According to the report, at present no new major activity has been seen at major nuclear centers like Isfahan, Fordow and Natanz. However, there are indications that repair and construction work has started at some missile storage centers in Iran. America and its allies have already been expressing concern about Iran’s missile program.

What was the agreement?

In the 14-point MoU signed between America and Iran last month, Iran had clearly reiterated that it will neither develop nor acquire nuclear weapons. Apart from this, it was also agreed to resolve the stockpile of enriched uranium under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

However, satellite images now surfaced have raised questions about whether Iran had started violating the terms of the agreement just days after it was signed. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has already announced the end of the ceasefire, due to which the tension between the two countries has increased further.

Iran’s only active nuclear power plant, Bushehr, was attacked with a projectile missile on Tuesday evening (17 March 2026), causing panic in the area. However, it is a matter of relief that there was no damage to the plant and no employee was injured. This incident has happened at a time when the war between America, Israel and Iran has reached its third week. Because of this, concerns about nuclear security have increased further.

According to Reuters report, Iran immediately informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about this incident. The agency said that the projectile missile hit the premises of the plant, but there was no harm to the plant and the people working there. IAEA chief Rafael Grossi appealed to all countries to avoid any kind of military action near such sensitive places, because it could lead to a major nuclear accident. Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency also clearly said that there was no damage to the reactor or its main parts and the radiation level was completely normal. Meanwhile, Rosatom also condemned the incident and said that the plant is completely safe.

Where is Bushehr Nuclear Plant located?

Bushehr Nuclear Plant is located on the banks of the Persian Gulf and is the only active nuclear plant in Iran, hence its security is considered very important. At present the situation is normal, but tension remains in the area. After this incident, security has been further increased and investigation is ongoing. Let us tell you that last year America had attacked three nuclear bases of Iran, which included Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. Many Iranian scientists were also killed in that attack. Seyed Abbas Araghchi: Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, while addressing the United Nations Disarmament Conference in Geneva, said that nuclear weapons are the biggest threat to all humanity. He had arrived here for indirect talks between Iran and America on the nuclear issue and to try to lift the sanctions.

Araghchi said that even today the world is living in fear of about 12 thousand nuclear weapons. Many of these weapons have been kept on high alert and the policy of some countries even includes the issue of their first use. He said that this situation is against the spirit of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty i.e. NPT.

Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful

Iran’s Foreign Minister clearly said that his country neither wants to make nuclear weapons nor wants to acquire them. He said that nuclear weapons have no place in Iran’s security policy. He also said that the peaceful use of nuclear energy is the right of every NPT member country and should not be attached to political conditions.

Accusations against America

Araghchi accused America of repeatedly violating its promises. He said that America harmed diplomacy by unilaterally exiting the JCPOA agreement and later attacked Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. He said that the sanctions and military threats imposed on Iran are against international law and should end.

Israel also targeted

Iran’s Foreign Minister criticized the US and some European countries, saying that they remain silent on Israel’s nuclear weapons and its actions in the region, but call Iran’s peaceful program a threat. He said that in the last several decades, Israel has carried out serious attacks in the region and a large number of people have lost their lives in Gaza.

Cooperation with IAEA will continue

Araghchi said that Iran will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency within its legal scope. He also mentioned the recent technical talks with the Director General of the agency.

Hope on talks with America

Referring to the second round of talks between Iran and America in Geneva, he said that Iran has joined the talks with full seriousness and good intentions. He hopes that this conversation will move towards a permanent solution. At the end of his speech he said, either the world will eliminate nuclear weapons or one day these weapons will destroy the world. He stressed that if there is political will, the dream of a world free from nuclear weapons can be achieved.

US-Iran Tension: Tension between America and Iran is continuously increasing. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that a big military force is moving towards Iran. Although he clarified that America has no desire to take military action, but Washington is completely alert about the situation in the region.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said that America has deployed a huge naval fleet in the region, but expressed hope that there will be no need to use it. He said, “We have a large flotilla going in that direction. Let’s see what happens next. There is a large force moving towards Iran. I don’t want anything to happen, but we are keeping a very close eye on them.”

‘Iran stops plan to hang protesters’

The US President once again claimed that due to pressure from Washington, Iran canceled the alleged plan to hang hundreds of protesters. Trump said, “I stopped 837 executions on Thursday. They all would have been killed. Everyone was supposed to be hanged.” He termed these alleged hangings as “thousand-year-old barbarity.”

He said those facing execution were mostly young men and claimed that Tehran backed down after receiving stern warnings. According to Trump, “I said that if you hang these people, you will get a response like never before. It will look like peanuts compared to the action taken on our nuclear program.” Trump further said that the execution plan was canceled just one hour before it was to be implemented.

American military gathering increased in the Middle East

According to US officials, an aircraft carrier strike group and other military resources are scheduled to reach the Middle East in the coming days. According to news agency Reuters, many warships have already departed from the Asia-Pacific region. These include the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, several destroyers, warships and fighter aircraft. An American official said that deployment of additional air defense systems is also being considered.

Warning given on nuclear program

Trump had earlier said that he hoped the US would not have to take any further military action, but also warned that Washington would respond if Iran restarted its nuclear program. In an interview in Davos, he said, “They can’t keep the nuclear tax. If they did, the same thing would happen again.”

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations’ nuclear monitoring body, has also expressed concern. The agency has not verified Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile for at least seven months, despite guidelines that require monthly inspections.

Iran on IAEA: The Iranian Parliament has approved the bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAA), the Iranian Parliament. Reuters have given this information by quoting Nurnues. Tehran’s Tasnim news agency on the matter, citing the committee spokesperson Ibrahim Regai on Monday (22 June 2025), stated that according to the bill, monitoring cameras will be installed, allowing inspection and presenting reports to IAEA will be suspended until the safety of nuclear facilities is guaranteed.
