ICC ICTRODUCES 8 New Rules: At this time, the eyes of cricket fans are on the India vs England Test series. Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced 8 major changes in all the formats of cricket. These changes have taken place after the World Test Championship 2025 finals. Rules related to Test cricket have come into force from the start of the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. At the same time, the rules related to white ball format will be applicable from July 2.

8 new rules of ICC

1- Stop Clock Rules brought in Test cricket

After the white ball format, the ICC has now implemented a stop clock in Test matches. Under which the fielding team will now have to start the next over within 60 seconds of the end of the previous over. If this does not happen, the umpires will give two warnings first. After this, there will be a penalty of five runs every time. Warnings will be resetted after 80 overs.

2- Only one ball will be used after 35 overs in ODIs
At this time, in ODI cricket, one team had to put 25-25 overs using two balls. But now after 35 overs in ODIs from July 2, the team will be allowed to use the same ball.

3- Change also about saliva rules

Saliva on the ball is still banned. In such a situation, the team tries to change the ball by placing saliva many times. But now this will not happen. Now the umpire will fully decide whether the ball should be changed or not. Let us know that intentionally violating the rules, a penalty of five runs is still available.

4- Catch will also be investigated on no ball

Earlier, when no ball was given, the catch was correct or not, it was not investigated. But now the catch will be checked even after no ball. If the catch is correct, the batting team will get only one run. On the other hand, if the catch is not right, then all the runs that they will score on that ball will be counted.

5- Fines will be imposed on taking short run

If a batsman deliberately takes a short run, then the batting team will have a penalty of 5 runs. Also, which batsman will take a strike, these fielding teams and umpires will take.

6- Rules on appeal against batsman for out two ways

Under this rule, if there is an appeal for LBW and run out against the batsman, then the TV umpire will first investigate the LBW. Because this is the first and if the batsman is out, then the ball will be dead there.

7- Big change regarding catch

Any fielder can now touch the ball just once, jumping in the air outside the boundary. If a fielder pushes the ball inside the boundary while living in the air, then he comes inside the boundary and takes a catch only then it will be considered as legal.

8- Changes in DRS rules

The ICC has also made changes in the DRS rule, if the batsman was caught out and it became clear in the review that the ball is hit by pad, now the third umpire will also check LBW. During this time, if “umpires call” comes in ball-tracking, then the batsman will be given out.

There will be a big change in ODI cricket

The ICC has made this change for Mains cricket only. In the same innings of the ODI match, two balls were used from the first over to the 50th over, but now it will not happen from July 2. Now after the 34th over in the match, only one ball will remain, which the bowling team can choose accordingly. On the other hand, if the game remains 25 overs instead of 50 for some reason, then only one ball of an innings will be given at the beginning of the game.

New rule of replacement

According to the new ICC rules, the team will have to give information about their substitute players before the game starts. If a player of a team is injured, then the same substitute player will come in his place, whose name must have already been done to the umpire. Both teams of the game can tell five players for five positions.
