The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the rankings of players for ODI and Test on Wednesday afternoon. There has been a historic reshuffle in the latest ICC rankings. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has now become the world’s number-1 batsman in ODI cricket. This is historic because after 46 years a New Zealand batsman has become number-1. Earlier, Rohit Sharma of India was the number-1 batsman, but Mitchell has snatched the crown from the hitman. However, Jasprit Bumrah remains number-1 in the ranking of bowlers in Tests.

New Zealand’s batsman becomes number 1 in ODI after 46 years

Daryl Mitchell scored 119 runs in the first ODI against West Indies on 16 November. However, due to a back injury, he is out of the remaining matches of the series. Daryl Mitchell has become the first New Zealand batsman since Glenn Turner in 1979 to top the men’s ODI batting rankings.

Pakistan’s Babar Azam has reached sixth position after playing an inning of 102 runs against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Whereas Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman are at 22nd and 26th position respectively after scoring two half-centuries in the series.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan number-1 among bowlers

Rashid Khan of Afghanistan is at number-1 in the ranking of bowlers in ODI. In the list of ODI bowlers, Pakistani leg spinner Abrar Ahmed has jumped 11 places to reach 9th position. Abrar took 3 wickets for 41 runs in the second ODI against Sri Lanka. Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf has jumped 5 places. He is at 23rd position. Apart from him, Jayden Seals of West Indies has climbed three places to 20th position. Roston Chase has gained 12 places. He is currently at 46th position.

Jasprit Bumrah number-1 in test

If we look at the Test rankings, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who took a total of 6 wickets against South Africa, has retained the top position. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav has moved up two places to reach career best 13th position. Ravindra Jadeja has moved up four places to reach 15th position. South African off-spinner Simon Harmer, who took 8 wickets at Eden Gardens, has moved up 20 places to a career-best 24th position.

Among the bowlers are Keshav Maharaj of South Africa and Mahish Tuakhan of Sri Lanka are jointly number-1. Both have 641 rating points. However, Keshav Maharaj’s name is first in the top-10 list.

No Australian batsman in the top-10

After the recent ODI series played between Australia and South Africa, the ICC has released ODI rankings. Deril Mitchell of New Zealand is at number five in the batsmen rankings. Not a single Australian batsman is in the top-10 in the latest ranking. Travis Head is at number 11.

Shubman Gill is at number one with 784 rating points. Rohit Sharma is second with 756 rating points. Babar Azam of Pakistan is included in the top three with 739 rating points. At the same time, King Kohli has 736 points. In recent months, the Indian team has not participated in the ODIs, but in the latest ODI rankings of the bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav (650) and Ravindra Jadeja (616) are still at number three and ninth respectively.

Rohit and Kohli have retired from T20 and Test cricket, but both of them will continue to play further in ODIs. Both Rohit and Kohli last played an ODI match during the ICC Champions Trophy in the United Arab Emirates in February 2025, in which they played an important role in India’s title campaign.

Cameron Green jumped 40 places

Australia scored a huge score of 431 runs for two wickets in the third and final ODI played against South Africa, with three batsmen Travis Head (142), Mitchell Marsh (100) and Cameron Green (118 not out) scored centuries. These three have benefited a lot in the ranking due to this performance. Head reached 11th position with a reform of a notch, Marsh jumped at 44th position with a jump of four places and Green to 78th with a jump of 40 places. His partner of the Australian team Josh Ilygis has also made it to the list. This right -handed batsman has reached 64th position with a reform of 23 places.
