While sharing a post on social media, Sehwag created a complete coincidence of India becoming the champion with the victory of Zimbabwe. For the first time, Zimbabwe defeated Australia in the 1983 ODI World Cup. This was the year when Team India won the World Cup title for the first time. India got this title under the captaincy of veteran Kapil Dev.

After this, Zimbabwe also defeated Australia in the 2007 T20 World Cup. This was the first edition of the T20 World Cup, in which the Men in Blue won the title under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

Now Zimbabwe has also defeated Australia in the 2026 T20 World Cup, due to which Team India has a chance of becoming the champion. Now it will be interesting to see whether the Indian team can win the second consecutive title or not. In the last T20 World Cup of 2024, Team India had won the T20 World Cup trophy under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

It is noteworthy that till now in the 2026 T20 World Cup, Team India has played 2 league matches against USA and Namibia. In both the matches, Team India won by 29 and 93 runs respectively. Now the Men in Blue’s next match will be against Pakistan on Sunday, February 15.
