A meeting was recently held between representatives of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Even after this meeting held in Lahore, no final decision has been taken yet on the India-Pakistan match. According to Cricbuzz, PCB is now waiting for the order of the Pakistan government before issuing any final decision. Now this matter has reached Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

According to a report published in Cricbuzz, it is expected that an announcement can be made after the meeting of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. It is possible that an announcement may be made by ICC or PCB by the end of the day.

Pakistan had placed 4 big demands before the ICC in the recent meeting. It is being said that ICC is adamant that Pakistan has no basis to make any such demand. The idea has also been put forward by the International Cricket Council that Pakistan should play matches with India under the Members Participation Agreement (MPA) agreement signed in December 2024. In this, a proposal was made to hold the matches between India and Pakistan at neutral venues.

According to the same report, it was claimed that some of the demands of PCB circulating in the media may be accurate, such as resumption of bilateral series with India. There was even a demand to play a bilateral series with Bangladesh. BCB also proposed that a tri-series be conducted between India-Pakistan-Bangladesh.

There is no clarity on how many demands of Pakistan and Bangladesh have been accepted, but restarting the India-Pakistan-Bangladesh tri-series or the bilateral series between them does not come under the jurisdiction of the ICC. It is for BCCI to decide whether to play tri-series or bilateral series with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

There are question marks over whether the match between India and Pakistan will take place in the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the Pakistan government has said that its national team will not play the match with Team India on 15 February. Pakistan has described it as a matter related to extraordinary circumstances. This dispute has taken a new turn as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally demanded talks with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Pakistan wrote a letter to ICC calling it a matter related to extraordinary circumstances and also linked its government’s tweet to this. But in response to this, ICC has said that in case of not playing the match with India, Pakistan may have to face many types of sanctions and legal action can also be taken. ICC has also sought clarity on what extraordinary circumstances the PCB is citing.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, sources said that the ICC reiterated its commitment to maintain complete impartiality and follow the rules in the Pakistan boycott case. The ICC also made it clear that the integrity and rules of the tournament will be given first priority before taking any decision. The ICC also attempted to explain under what circumstances a claim of extraordinary circumstances can be made and the evidence required to make such a claim. At the same time, the ill effects of withdrawing from a particular match were also highlighted.

The International Cricket Council says that the rules will not be violated under any circumstances and it is ready for talks to resolve the issue. In response to this, Pakistan Cricket Board has also agreed for talks. At present, talks are going on between ICC and PCB to find a solution to the problem.
