ICC Women’s ODI Batting Ranking: Indian women’s team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has achieved the first position in the ICC Women’s ODI Rankings on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 and has become the best batsman in the world, leaving behind South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. This week, Smriti Mandhana’s rating point remained at 811, while Wolvaardt’s rating has decreased from 814 to 806. Due to this, Mandhana has become the number one batsman in the ranking of ODI batsmen. At the same time, there has been no change in this top-10 ranking except the first 2 positions.

Who is in the top-10 in ICC women’s ODI rankings?

After Smriti Mandhana and Laura Wolvaardt at first and second position, Ashley Gardner and Nate Sciver-Brunt are at third and fourth position respectively. Beth Mooney is at number five, while Alyssa Healy is at number six. Sophie Devine and Elise Parry are jointly at seventh position and Hayley Matthews is at ninth position. At the same time, Jemimah Rodriguez is at number ten and is the second Indian player in the list of top-10 batsmen in the women’s ODI rankings.

Sune Luce jumped 5 places

Many players from South Africa and Ireland have also got big benefits in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Rankings. The South African team won the first ODI match of the series played between South Africa and Ireland in East London by 7 wickets. Chasing Ireland’s target of 210 runs, the Proteas team won in just 37 overs. In this match, Sune Luus and Miane Smit played an important role in helping the team win by scoring half-centuries. Due to Sune Luus’s brilliant performance, she has gained five places in the ranking of ODI batsmen and has reached number 31.

On the other hand, South African captain Laura Wolvaardt could score only 31 runs in this match, which affected her ranking and she has slipped from the first position to the second position.

Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women’s cricket team created history on 2 November, when it won its first World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final. Apart from Rs 40 crore received by ICC for becoming champion, BCCI also announced a reward of Rs 51 crore for the team and staff. Many state governments have also announced separate cash amount for the players of their state. Amidst all this, veteran Sunil Gavaskar has warned female players. He said that they should not be disappointed if they do not get some of the rewards that were promised.

Sunil Gavaskar in his column in Mid-Day wrote, “Just a warning to the players. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get some of the rewards promised. In India, advertisers, brands and individuals quickly join the race and try to put their free publicity on the shoulders of the winners. Take a look at the full-page ads and hoardings congratulating the team. Unless they are sponsors of the team and individual players, the rest are just promoting their brands or They are trying to promote themselves and are not giving anything to those who bring glory to Indian cricket.”

Sunil Gavaskar has also gone through this phase, when India won the first ODI World Cup in 1983. He was part of that team. Gavaskar recalled the unfulfilled promises made to him and his teammates after the 1983 World Cup victory. After that victory (1983), the craze for cricket increased in India, it inspired the youth. Yet, despite praise, many promises have remained unfulfilled to date. However, Gavaskar is proud of the love and warmth he has received from the public, which he considers to be the truest form of appreciation.

Most of the promises of 1983 were not fulfilled – Gavaskar

Gavaskar further wrote, “Many promises were made to the 1983 team too and got a lot of coverage in the media at that time. Most of those promises were never fulfilled. The media cannot be blamed because they were happy in showing big announcements, not knowing that they too were being used by these shameless people. So girls, if these shameless people are using your victory to promote themselves, then do not worry.”

Gavaskar further wrote, “The people of 1983 will tell you that after so many decades, the love and affection of an ordinary Indian cricket lover is our greatest wealth and when you too take the field, it will be your wealth too. Hearty congratulations once again. The country is proud of you. Jai Hind.”

In the final match played on Sunday, the Indian women’s cricket team won its first World Cup title by defeating South Africa, in which Shefali Verma was chosen as the player of the match. After playing a brilliant inning of 87 runs, he also took 2 important wickets in bowling. At the same time, their state government is also announcing prize money for the players. In this series, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh announced a prize money of Rs 1 crore for Kranti Gaur.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Mohan Yadav said, “Last night, I want to congratulate the daughters of our state and the country for the way they made a splash in cricket. When the Indian team won the World Cup final, Kranti Gaur of Madhya Pradesh was also included in that team. I want to congratulate her. I announce a prize money of Rs 1 crore for Kranti Gaur, who comes from Chhatarpur district.”

How was Kranti Gaur’s performance in the World Cup?

India has won the ODI World Cup for the first time by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. DY Patil Stadium of Navi Mumbai became witness to this historic moment. After 2005 and 2017, this Indian team was playing the third World Cup final, finally Team India won the cup under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. For this historic victory, the Indian team has received a record prize money of approximately Rs 42 crore. A prize pool of approximately Rs 123 crore was prepared for the Women’s World Cup.

How much prize money does the World Cup winner get?

The Indian cricket team has received prize money of approximately Rs 42 crore for becoming the champion of the World Cup 2025. This amount is more than the prize money received by 2023 Men’s World Cup winner Australia. Apart from this, BCCI has already announced to give a prize money of Rs 125 crore to Team India if it becomes the winner. Australia had received prize money of about Rs 33 crore at that time. But an amount of Rs 42 crore was given to the Indian women’s cricket team. The runner-up South African team has received prize money of about Rs 20 crore.

Money has also been showered on the teams going to the semi-finals, i.e. Australia and England. Both the teams have received Rs 11.95 crore. No team returned home empty-handed, because a lot of money was showered on the teams that were eliminated in the league stage itself.

The teams ranked fifth (Sri Lanka) and sixth (New Zealand) in the table have received Rs 7.8 crore each. Whereas Pakistan, ranked seventh (Bangladesh) and eighth, both got Rs 4.5 crore.

The pair of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave a great start to India in the Women’s ODI World Cup final, both of them made a century partnership (104) for the first wicket. In the final, South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shefali played a brilliant inning of 87 runs in 78 balls, in which she hit 2 sixes and 7 fours. She missed her century, being dismissed by Ayabanga Khaka in the 28th over.

Hit a six in the style of Sachin Tendulkar

Of the two sixes hit by Shefali Verma in the World Cup final, one was of 73 meters. In the style of Sachin Tendulkar, he hit a six on the sight screen in long straight without swinging the bat completely. He hit this shot in the 15th over bowled by Nadine de Klerk, with this shot the entire stadium echoed with noise.

The final of the Women’s Cricket ODI World Cup 2025 will be held today between the Indian women’s cricket team and the South African women’s cricket team. This title clash will take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where Harmanpreet Kaur and team defeated Australia in the semi-finals. Team India is playing the final for the third time, while South Africa is playing its first ODI World Cup final in history. One of the two teams will win their first title today and one of them will be disappointed. Here are 5 big things related to this World Cup.

How much money will the team that wins the Women’s World Cup get?

All the tickets for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 final have been sold, this match will be held today (November 2) at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This time the champion team will get much more money than the previous edition. ICC President Jay Shah had announced the prize money even before the start of the tournament. This is more than the men’s World Cup winning team.

The team that wins the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 will receive prize money of $4.48 million, which is approximately Rs 40 crore in Indian currency. Let us tell you that the Australian team that won the 2023 Men’s World Cup had received 4 million dollars. The team that loses today will get $2.24 million, i.e. around Rs 20 crore.

How much amount will BCCI give?

If Harmanpreet Kaur and team win their first World Cup by defeating South Africa today, then BCCI can also shower money on the team. According to reports, BCCI will give the same amount of reward to Team India for winning, as was given to the Indian team for winning the T20 World Cup.

Let us tell you that last year BCCI had announced a prize money of Rs 125 crore for Team India after winning the T20 World Cup. Now it is expected that BCCI will give the same amount of money to Harmanpreet Kaur and team and staff, if India becomes champion.

Smriti Mandhana can become top run scorer in World Cup 2025

In terms of scoring the most runs in this edition of the World Cup, Smriti Mandhana is at second place, South African captain Laura Wolvaardt is at the first place. Mandhana has scored 389 runs in 8 matches, which includes 1 century and 2 half-centuries. Wolvaert has scored 470 runs in 8 matches. Smriti Mandhana can come first in the list by playing a century innings today, although this will happen if Laura Wolvaardt is out on a low score.

Marijane Capp can achieve this position

South African fast bowler Marizanne Cap is close to taking 50 wickets in the Women’s World Cup. She took 5 wickets in the semi-finals, with which she became the bowler taking the highest wicket in World Cup history. She can become the first bowler in the world to take 50 wickets in the Women’s World Cup. They currently have 44 wickets, to do so they need to take 6 wickets today. The way his bowling was in the semi-finals, it is not impossible.

Such a final is taking place for the first time in history

This is the first time in the history of the Women’s ODI World Cup that neither Australia nor England are in the final. The Indian team had defeated Australia in the semi-finals and South Africa has reached the finals by defeating England.

The final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 will be held between Indian women and South Africa women’s team at DY Patil Stadium. Team India, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, has created history in the semi-finals and reached the finals, the team won against Australia by chasing the target of 339 runs. This was the biggest run chase in women’s ODI history. By defeating 7-time world champion Australia, the Indian women’s team reached the ODI World Cup final for the third time, while the South African team will play the final for the first time. See how the pitch of DY Patil Stadium is expected to be in the title match. Probable playing 11 and match prediction of both the teams.

The way Jemimah Rodriguez led India to victory by playing an unbeaten inning of 127 runs in the semi-finals, a similar performance will be expected from her in the finals as well. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not bat in this tournament, but in the semi-final against Australia, she made the fans happy by playing a brilliant inning of 89 runs.

Will keep an eye on the opening pair

Shefali Verma has been included in the Indian squad after Pratika Raval’s injury, but she was out in the semi-finals after scoring only 10 runs. But if we want to win in the final, then it will be necessary for her and the other opener Smriti Mandhana to perform well, both of them are expected to make a good start.

in front of the bowlers challenge

South African captain Laura Wolvaardt opens the innings, so she will have to be prevented from lasting in the beginning. Otherwise she can become a problem, she played a historic inning of 169 runs in the semi-finals. Renuka Singh, Kranti Gaur will have to fall early wickets in the beginning.

Nallapureddy Charani has been doing her job well in restricting the runs, although Deepti Sharma proved to be a bit expensive in the semi-finals, her all-round performance in the tournament has been good. His experience will also be useful to India in the final.

Indian Women vs South Africa Women Head to Head Records (in ODI)

Total matches- 34

India won- 20

South Africa won- 13

Result- 1

DY Patil Stadium Pitch Report

The pitch of DY Patil Stadium is favorable for batting, hence a high scoring match can be seen in the final. Spinners are likely to get more help here than fast bowlers. The team winning the toss can bowl first, because there is a possibility of rain here. The average score here in the first innings is 220. Talking about the weather, there is a 25 percent chance of rain here around 2 pm on Sunday. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 16 kilometers per hour.

Probable playing 11 of Indian women’s team

Shefali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodriguez, Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicket keeper), Amanjot Kaur, Radha Yadav, Kranti Gaur, Nallapureddy Charani, Renuka Singh.

Probable playing 11 of South Africa women’s team

Laura Wolvaardt (captain), Tazmin Brits, Annie Bosch, Sune Luus, Marijne Kapp, Sinalo Jafta (wk), Annery Derksen, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Ayabanga Khaka, Nonkululeko Mlaba.

Who will win the Women’s World Cup final?

It is certain that this time a new world champion team will be found, because both have not won the title yet. Talking about the chances, there is more than 70 percent chance of Harmanpreet Kaur and team winning. Because India had defeated Australia on this ground in the semi-finals, Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah batted brilliantly. India is also ahead in head-to-head statistics, while the pressure on South Africa will be more because the team is playing the final for the first time. In this context, it can be said that the chances of Indian women’s cricket team becoming world champion are high.

When and where to watch the Women’s World Cup final?

The final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 will be held on Sunday, November 2 at the DY Patil Stadium. The match will start at 3 pm, toss will take place at 2:30 pm. The match will be telecast live on Star Sports channel and live streaming on JioHotstar app and website.
