What is the difference between the two?

Chartered Accountant (CA) is a financial expert whose specialty is accounting, auditing, taxation and financial management. Their main job is to maintain the financial health of the company. Whereas, Company Secretary (CS) is an expert in corporate law and governance. He ensures that the company is not involved in any illegal activities and acts as a bridge between the stakeholders and the board of directors.

Study path and time taken

In India, the journey of becoming a CA is handled by an organization named ICAI, it takes about 4.5 to 5 years to complete. It is divided into 3 parts – Foundation, Intermediate and Final. In this, it is necessary to do articleship (learning practical work) of 2 to 3 years. If we talk about CS, it is run by ICSI institute. It takes slightly less time to complete than CA, about 3 to 4 years, and includes 21 months of training along with executive and professional level studies.

Salary comparison

If seen, the work of CA is a bit more technical and it includes many things related to finance. Therefore, generally their salary is more than that of CS. Initially the salary of CA is around 6 to 12 lakhs per annum, whereas that of CS is around 4 to 8 lakhs per annum. At mid level, the salary of CA reaches 15 to 25 lakhs, while that of CS remains between 12 to 20 lakhs. At the senior level, the salary of CA can increase to Rs 40 to 70 lakh+, whereas the salary of CS professionals usually remains around 20 to 30 lakh.

Indian Company Secretary Institute (ICSI) has started the registration process of December 2025 session of CS (Company Secretary) Executive and Professional Course. Recently, the result of June session was declared on 25 August, after which now eligible candidates can apply for the examination to be held in December. This opportunity is special for those students who are dreaming of becoming a company secretary and could not attend any reason in the June session.

Fill the application form online

Applications for CS December 2025 session can only be made through online medium. Candidates will have to fill the application form by visiting the official website of ICSI smash.Ictsi.edu. There is no system of offline application.

How long can you apply?

The last date to apply without late fees is 25 September 2025. At the same time, students who are unable to fill the form at the scheduled time for any reason, they can register till 10 October 2025 by paying late fees.

June session results released

ICSI declared the result of CS Executive and Professional June 2025 session on 25 August. Candidates can download their e-marksheet from the website of the institute. If a candidate has problems in downloading the marksheet, they can contact the institute on the email ID exom@icsi.edu.

Indian Company Secretary Institute (ICSI) has released the result of CS Executive June examination on Monday, 25 August 2025. This is a big news for thousands of candidates waiting for the result for a long time. Candidates appearing in the examination can now check and download their results by visiting the official website icsi.edu.

ICSI has informed that candidates will have to enter roll number and registration numbers like login credentials to reach their results. The institute has also provided direct link on the website for the convenience of the students, with the help of which the result can be seen in a few minutes.

Physical copy of result will not be available

The ICSI has clarified that no physical marksheet or result copy will be given to the candidates. The institute will only provide e-regult-cum-marks statement on the website. This means that all the candidates will have to download their marksheet from the official website itself.

Earlier, at 11 am today, the institute released the result of CS Professional June Exam 2025. Now the results of both exams – CS Professional and CS Executive – are available on the website.

Apart from releasing the result, the ICSI has also informed that the next session will be held between December 22 to December 29, 2025. The online registration process for December session examinations will start from 26 August 2025.
