But now even this fruit has not been able to escape adulteration. Recently the Food Safety Authority (FSSAI) has seized more than 2,000 kg adulterated watermelons in Tamil Nadu. These watermelons were found to use synthetic color, chemical and harmful preservatives that increase sweetness from injections.

Easy home test to identify adulterated watermelon

FSSAI has asked people to investigate adulterated watermelon. For this, put the chopped pieces in a glass glass. Artificial colors are separated when put in water. Apart from this, you can also find adulteration from cotton ball test. For this, cut the watermelon half and rub its red part with a cotton ball. This can show whether any color has been added to it or not.

If the cotton ball remains clean, the fruit is natural. If it turns red, it is a sign of adulteration. Apart from this, rub the piece of watermelon with white tissue or paper. If the color sticks to the paper, it is not safe to eat it.

Identify adulteration of watermelon in these methods as well

1. If the watermelon looks more red and shiny as soon as it is cut, then be careful. Very bright red color can often be a sign of synthetic dye.

2. Chemical sugar or injection given watermelons are often sticky.

3. Real watermelon has a light yellow or cream color patches on the bottom surface. If it is not, then doubt.

4. Real watermelon has the smell of freshness, while fake feels a light chemical smell.

5. Some fruit sellers apply wax or polish on the peel, which gives it a fake glow.
