Dera Ismail Khan area of ​​Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan was shaken by a blast on Wednesday (3 December 2025). A police vehicle was targeted, in which three policemen including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) were killed. Local media quoted District Police spokesperson Yakub Zulkarnain as saying that the Assistant Commissioner died in the blast.

Yakub Zulqarnain said, “An improvised explosive device was used to cause the blast in Paniyala area.” According to Pakistani media Dawn, the police spokesperson said that ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq and the driver of the mobile van died in the attack, while another constable present with them was not injured.

Security forces have surrounded the incident site and started the search operation. He said, “Police are searching for the attackers and the case is being investigated from every angle.” Apart from this, a statement issued from the office of DI Khan DPO Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada said that the attack was carried out by unknown terrorists.

Police convoy became target for the second consecutive day

The statement said the DPO also spoke to the media and said, “The terrorists have carried out a cowardly attack, but such actions cannot demoralize the police.” A day earlier, the convoy of North Waziristan Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali Khan was targeted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which DI Khan was killed.

Shah Wali Khan was going with his team on Bannu-Miranshah road when the attackers attacked his convoy near Masoombabad Mamandkhel. He died on the spot, while the policeman deployed for his security and a passerby were also killed in the attack. Three people, including two members of Shah Wali Khan’s security staff and the driver of the convoy, were injured in the incident. All the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Opposition to Shahbaz government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

There has been an increase in anti-government activities in Pakistan in the last year, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has intensified attacks after the ceasefire agreement with the government ends in November 2022. A policeman was killed and three others were injured in a suicide blast targeting a security vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Monday.

Meanwhile, Islamabad’s Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) said in its security report that the overall violence in security areas in Pakistan has increased by more than 46 percent in the third quarter of 2025. According to the report, there were 901 deaths and 599 people injured during this period in Pakistan. These include common people, security personnel and criminals.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has claimed to have busted a major terrorist module, which was active at inter-state and international levels. Police say that this terrorist racket was linked to banned terrorist organizations Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).

Search operations in many districts and states
During the investigation, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted search operations at several places in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian. Similarly, raids were also conducted in Faridabad with the help of Haryana Police and in Saharanpur in collaboration with UP Police. During these searches, terrorism related documents, electronic equipment, weapons, ammunition and material for making IED were recovered. Investigation revealed that white-collar people were also associated with this module, which includes students and people in contact with foreign handlers.

During the investigation, the police have arrested seven accused.

• Dr. Muzammil Ahmed Ganai (Musaib), resident of Koil, Pulwama
• Dr. Adil, resident Wanpora, Kulgam

Arms, ammunition and explosive material recovered
Jammu and Kashmir Police said that important weapons and explosive materials were seized during the search.

• A Beretta pistol with cartridges
• An AK-56 rifle with cartridges
• An AK with Krinkov rifle cartridge
• A total of 2900 kg of material for making IED, which includes explosives, chemicals, reactants, inflammable materials, electronic circuits, batteries, wires, remote controls, timers and metal sheets.

Financial investigation and source of funding
Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that the investigation into the source of funds related to this module is going on at a fast pace. Information about all financial links and external cooperation is being collected one by one and will be destroyed in time.

2563 kg more explosives recovered
Faridabad Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police raided a house in Fatehpur Taga village in the morning and seized 2563 kg of suspected explosive. This village is about 4 kilometers away from Dhauj. The house was rented by Dr. Muzammil from a Maulana, who was taken into custody by the police in the morning. It is noteworthy that earlier in the raid in Dhauj on Sunday evening, the police had found 360 kg of explosives.
