Whereas female candidates are not allowed to come wearing jewellery. Wearing earrings, chains, nose pins, anklets, bracelets or any kind of metal item is prohibited. If there is mehendi, tattoo or any kind of special mark on the body then the admission can be stopped, hence it is better to avoid such things before the examination.

In how many slots will the exam be held?

The CAT exam will be held in three slots, the first slot will be from 8:30 to 10:30 am, the second slot will be from 12:30 to 2:30 pm and the third slot will be from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Candidates have to download their admit card from the official website of IIM iimcat.ac.in and carry it to the center along with the identity proof. The examination will be conducted in computer-based mode in 170 cities and 375 examination centers across the country.

That is, if the current basic pay of an employee is ₹ 20000 and the fitment factor is set at 2.5, then the new basic pay will be 20000×2.5=50000. After this increase, allowances like HRA and DA will also be affected. After this the take home pay will be even higher. However, let us tell you that the final fitment factor and pay slab will be decided by the Commission only after evaluating inflation, cost of living and government revenue. This step taken by the Central Government will prove to be a big relief for the central employees and pensioners. According to estimates, there may be an increase of 30% to 34% in the total salary.

Significantly, the population of Assam is more than three crore, but till now no IIM was present here. The IIM network for management education in the rest of the country is very strong, but the Northeast region was still behind in this matter. The opening of IIM in Guwahati will benefit not only Assam but the students of the entire Northeast.

In fact, the agreement between the Government of India, the Government of Assam and the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) included that special package would be implemented for the development of the state. When Deepesh was only 11 years old, his father passed away. After this, his family moved from Jaipur to Ahmedabad. While staying in a room house with mother and younger brother, Deepesh started taking responsibility from an early age. In the seventh grade, he started working at the shoe shop, where he used to get 1500 months salary. Deepesh says that he used to come directly from school to work. It was a distant thing to take tuition, but I did not give up. On the basis of this hard work, he scored 85% in 10th and 89% in 12th. He was also a school topper of 12th.

Job with studies

After 12th, Deepesh got a government job of watchman in Ahmedabad Cantt. With a salary of Rs 18,000, he took over the cost of the house and completed his studies at B.Com and M.Com with distance. But MBA’s dream was pressed somewhere. When his younger brother Dinesh received admission in IIM Lucknow and he came to Ahmedabad for internship, he turned Deepesh again towards his dream.

CAT preparation and IIM’s journey

Deepesh started preparations for CAT from May 2024. He used to work for a watchman till two and a half in the day and then went to the coaching class in the evening. Every day about four hours of studies and 50-60 km journey was part of his routine. The result came in December 2024 and Deepesh achieved 92.5 percentile in CAT. He also performed well in the interview and finally he got admission for MBA in IIM Shillong.
