This time the campus placement in Varanasi-based IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kashi Hindu University i.e. IIT BHU broke all the old records. In the placements that started from the first week of December, in just 5 days, more than a thousand students have received offers for jobs with good salaries. This figure is the fastest in the last several years. Earlier it used to take at least 10 days for so many students to get placement, but this time this milestone was achieved in just 5 days.

How many students registered?

This year, more than 1700 students registered for placement, out of which the maximum are around 1100 B.Tech students. At the same time, about 550 students of M.Tech and IDD (Integrated Dual Degree) and about 40 students of PhD have registered.

17 students got a package of more than one crore

Within just 5 days of the start of placements, more than 1000 students have received offer letters. At the same time, on the very first day, 17 students got a package of more than Rs 1 crore. The biggest package so far is Rs 1.67 crore annually. At the same time, the lowest package was Rs 29.23 lakh annually.

300 big companies participated in placement

This time around 300 renowned companies from across the country and the world have come to the campus of IIT BHU. Among these, many multinational and Indian companies including Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Group, Texas Instruments, ThoughtSpot, ICICI Bank, Godrej, Walmart and Flipkart are selecting students.

Why are IIT BHU students the first choice of companies?

The specialty of IIT BHU students is that they not only have bookish knowledge but are also ahead in practical skills, problem solving and learning new technologies. These children are very strong in new technologies like coding, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science. This is the reason why tech companies, finance companies and big companies in the manufacturing sector choose them first.

Opportunities for other students too

Campus placements are going on now and many companies will come throughout the month of December and also in January. There are still many opportunities left for those students who have not been selected yet. If we look at the trend of previous years, 85-90 percent students get placed till the end. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a big step to make the state the top center of the country in Pharma, Biotech and Medical Device Fields. On Friday (July 18) at Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhavan in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Promot Pharma Council signed two important agreement (MOU) with the Uttar Pradesh Promot Pharma Council with Translative Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU) of Varanasi. Their purpose is to help research, new ideas, startups support and skill development.

The event was chaired by Principal Secretary of Medical Education IAS Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma. In his speech, he said that Uttar Pradesh is now ready to become the leader of the country in Pharma and Health-Tech. These agreement will be a game-changer in bringing together research, product development, technology transfer, startups and policy making together.

What happened in the agreement?

The agreement took place between Uttar Pradesh Promot Pharma Council and Testi Faridabad. After this, a second agreement was signed with IIT-BHU Varanasi. Members of both institutes promised long -term partnerships to support research, new products, training and startups in Pharma, Biotech and Healthcare Technology.

Pharma Field Expert Dr. GN Singh said that these agreement will give new direction to research and new ideas in Uttar Pradesh. There is a need to focus on the necessary areas and bring the results quickly. At the same time, Advisor to the Chief Minister Avnish Kumar Awasthi said that these agents will play a big role in achieving the target of $ 1 trillion economy, bulk drug park and medical device park. The work of drug manufacturing unit in medical device park and Lalitpur on Yamuna Expressway is going on fast. These steps will also boost investment, policy making and global partnership.

Managing director and CEO IAS Kritika Sharma of Uttar Pradesh Promot Pharma Council said that there is time to make Uttar Pradesh innovation hub in Pharma, Biotech and Health-Tech. Through these agents, we are taking strong and planned steps. In this event, Dr. Nitya Wadhwa of Medical Education Secretary Aparna U, Thhti, Sushant Kumar Srivastava of IIT-BHU and Prof. Rajesh Kumar etc. were also involved.

The report further states that while sharing all the details regarding the placement, IIT (BHU) director, Professor Amit Patra said, “This year’s placement results strengthen the position of IIT (BHU) as the major institute to prepare professionals for the industry. Strengthen the status of the institute for talent and educational and research excellence.”

In 2019, IIT BHU completed its 100 years. However, it was not IIT from the beginning, but it begins in 1909 Banaras Engineering College (Benco) was done. Subsequently, in 1968, BHU’s erstwhile engineering colleges, including Benco, Minmet and Techno, were merged into the Institute of Technology (IIT) and became IIT-BHU Varanasi in 2012.
