The special thing is that this time 54 institutions of India have made their place in this global list, which is the record so far.

In 2015, when only 11 institutions in India were included in the QS rankings, no one thought that this number would be more than five times in a few years. This time India has become the fourth country to send the most institutions after India, America, Britain and China.

Top 5 Indian institutions did wonders

IIT Delhi (IIT Delhi)

This year, IIT Delhi has made a jump of 27 rank, doing a lot of amazing and has reached 123rd position. This is the best position ever in the 2026 rankings of any institution in India.

IIT Bombay (IIT Bombay)

Although the ranking of IIT Bombay has fallen slightly, it remains in the top 150. This time it was ranked 129th, while last year it was ranked 118th.

IIT Madras (IIT Madras)

IIT Madras has entered the top 200 for the first time this year. Last year it was ranked 227th, but now it has come to the 180th position.

IIT Kanpur (IIT Kanpur)

According to the rankings, IIT Kanpur is also keeping its place in the top 300. Its identity in technical and research is quite strong.

IIT Kharagpur (IIT KHARAGPUR)

Kharagpur, one of the oldest IITs in the country, has also maintained its permanent presence in the ranking.
