A big news has come for the students who dream of making a career in engineering. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has given the opportunity to make corrections in the application form of GATE 2026 exam. That means, if you have made any mistake while applying, now you have got a chance to correct it.

IIT Guwahati has opened the correction window of GATE 2026. This window is now available for all registered candidates. Candidates can make corrections in their application form by visiting the official website of GATE gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

Last date for application correction

The last date for making changes in the application has been fixed as 3 November 2025. This means that candidates have limited time to improve their form. Therefore, all the candidates are being advised not to wait for the last date and correct their mistakes as soon as possible.

Which information can be improved

IIT Guwahati has also clarified that candidates can make changes only in certain information. These include information related to name, date of birth, examination centre, selection of question paper, category, gender and disability. However, no fee will have to be paid for making corrections in some basic information like college name, location, roll number or correspondence address etc.

Fee details for application correction

While making corrections in the application, candidates will have to pay a fee for changes in some information. The institute has fixed a fixed fee for every change. Let us know how much will have to be paid for which improvement. Rs 500 for change in name, Rs 500 for change in date of birth, Rs 500 for change in exam city option, Rs 500 for change in existing question paper, Rs 500 for change of gender to female. Rs 500 for SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates, Rs 1500 for other candidates and Rs 500 for SC/ST after changing the category.

Apart from this, for change from Scheduled Caste/Tribe to other category, the candidates have to pay Rs 500, for other candidates they have to pay Rs 1500. For SC/ST/PWD candidates it is Rs 500, for other candidates it is Rs 1500.

How to improve the application

1. First of all candidates go to the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
2. Then login with your email ID and password.
3. Go to ‘Application Correction’ section and select the required correction.
4. Correct any information that is incorrect and pay the fee, if applicable.
5. After correction, recheck the form and submit.

Indian Army Bunkers: Researchers from IIT Guwahati have prepared ‘composite panels’ made of bamboo for the army, which will prove to be effective in the construction of military defense sites and border bunkers. These panels will replace traditional wood, iron and other metals. IIT officials said that bamboo mixed substances also have an flexibility equal to metals and they are also bulletproof. The Indian Army is currently testing this ‘Composite Panel’.

A start-up company in IIT-Guwahati ‘Admeka Composite Private Limited’ has constructed a composite panel made of bamboo at the laboratory level. Professor Poonam Kumari of IIT-Guhati said that researchers for the purpose of increasing restrictions on cutting of trees and green options discovered as an alternative to mixed material made of bamboo.

Aerospace, can be used in naval areas

IIT professor said that there are more than 4500 research papers evaluating the properties of bamboo mixtures, but they have not been studied on a large scale. He said that our goal is to provide environmentally friendly, high -power option for traditional materials. Bamboo mixture not only reduces dependence on wood and metals, but they are easily available and local people also get employment.
