The weather has once again taken a turn in Uttarakhand. The effect of weather is clearly visible from the mountains to the plains. Visibility has reduced significantly due to dense fog in the plains of the state, due to which people are facing problems in commuting in the morning and late night. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain and snowfall in five districts of the state.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of snowfall in high altitude areas along with light to moderate rain in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts. Due to changing weather, there is a possibility of increase in cold in the hilly areas, due to which normal life may be affected.

Slow speed of vehicles due to dense fog

Due to dense fog in the plains in the morning, the speed of vehicles on the roads has slowed down. The risk of accidents has increased especially on national highways and rural roads due to low visibility. At many places, drivers have to drive with headlights on.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert. Those traveling in hilly areas have been appealed to travel only after getting the latest information about the weather. Necessary precautions have been asked to be taken in view of the possibility of road blockage in case of snowfall.

District administration issued alert

In view of possible weather conditions, the district administration is also on alert mode. Officials of the concerned districts have been instructed to take precautions and deal with any emergency. The disaster management department has also been asked to remain active so that quick relief and rescue work can be done if needed.

Weather experts say that the cold may increase further in the mountains in the coming days, while the effect of fog is likely to continue in the plains. In such a situation, people have been appealed to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.

The weather remained largely clear in Delhi-NCR during the last 24 hours. There was less effect of mist and smog in the air, which brought some relief to the people. Cold winds kept blowing continuously at a speed of 18 to 20 kilometers per hour, which further increased the feeling of cold. Cold was felt more in the morning and night, but there was some relief due to sunlight during the day.

On Monday (January 26), the week also started with the movement of clouds. Even today strong and icy winds will continue to blow. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature may drop to 4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be around 16 degrees Celsius. Due to strong winds, the cold will feel more stinging, especially in the morning and late night.

Air quality index i.e. AQI 228 has been recorded in Delhi today. This level still falls in the ‘bad’ category, although the situation can be said to be a little better as compared to the last few days. Due to cold and strong winds, the pollution particles have scattered to some extent, due to which the air feels a little cleaner.

The weather will worsen tomorrow

The weather of Delhi-NCR is going to deteriorate once again on Tuesday (January 27). There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain due to the effect of an active western disturbance.

India Meteorological Department has issued forecast of rain in the morning, afternoon and night for 27 January. This means that the weather may remain changeable throughout the day and light to moderate rain may occur in many areas.

Yellow alert issued

The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert regarding storm and rain on January 27. During this period, winds are likely to blow at a speed of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour. People have been advised to be cautious especially in open areas.

Effect of winter till 31st January

At present, till January 31, the havoc of winter does not seem to be subsiding in Delhi-NCR. It will remain cold due to temperature fluctuations and strong winds. People are being advised to wear warm clothes and keep an eye on weather updates.

Imd weather update: After twice the rains in some parts of north-west and central India, some relief from the scorching heat is now over. India Meteorological Department has predicted an increase of day temperature (maximum) by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next five days on Sunday (April 20, 2025) and re-heat stroke in many parts of the country.

The IMD said that during April 22-24, there is a possibility of heat stroke in different areas of South UP and MP. There is a possibility of heat stroke in Rajasthan and Haryana on April 23-24 and Vidarbha during 21-23 April. IMD has advised people, especially the elderly and children to avoid the heat, issuing Yellow (be careful) for these areas.

The possibility of rain in these areas will increase mercury in eastern India

However, a new round of heavy rain may be seen in the Northeast from Tuesday (April 22, 2025), while in eastern India, temperature is expected to increase by 4-6 degrees Celsius in the next four days.

The heat outbreak was at its peak around 8 April, when the mercury crossed 46 degrees Celsius in some parts of western Rajasthan. After this, the rains from 9 to 12 April and last week brought the temperature down to several degrees. On Sunday, Chandrapur in Maharashtra was the hottest place in India with 44.6 degree Celsius.

Temperature will also increase in Delhi

This week, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 40 ° C to 42 ° C, but the temperature may increase further in the coming days. Last week, there has been some relief from the heat due to cloudy sky, light rain and strong winds, but the level of humidity has increased.

The IMD has forecast thunderstorms and rain on Monday with a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature of 26 ° C. ‘Yellow’ alert has been issued for thunderstorms, electricity and dust storms. The sky is expected to be partly cloudy, as well as the level of humidity is expected to reach 63 percent. Delhi is expected to move surface winds at a speed of 10-20 km/h in Delhi.
