US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that 25% import duty (tariff) will be imposed...

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that 25% import duty (tariff) will be imposed on all medium and heavy trucks imported in the US from 1 November 2025. This step has been taken to protect American truck manufacturers from foreign competition.

Trump wrote on his social media platform, “From 1 November 2025, 25% tariffs will be imposed on all medium and heavy duty trucks coming from other countries.” Trump said that the decision has been taken to protect American companies and workers from unfair foreign competition. He said, “We will not let our industries suffer from foreign dumping and wrong trade policies.”

Which countries will be affected

The decision will affect many countries, including Mexico, Canada, Japan, Germany and Finland.

Mexico exports the most medium and heavy trucks to the US. Since 2019, the truck export of Mexico has increased three times to about 3.4 lakh units.

Under the USMCA agreement between the US, Mexico and Canada, trucks can still be imported without any duty, provided their 64% value comes from North America. The new tariff can affect this system.

Impact on companies

Stellantis (which makes ‘Ram’ brand trucks and vans) may now have to face more costs on trucks made in Mexico.

The Volvo Group is a Sweden company that is constructing a new 700 million dollar truck plant in Montere, Mexico, which is expected to be operational in 2026. The new tariff can also affect this investment.

Time to implement tariff increased

Last month, Trump had said that this tariff could be applicable from October 1, but now its date has been extended to 1 November 2025. He claimed that this step would benefit American companies like Peterbilt, Kenworth and Freightliner.

Currently, under the trade agreements with the US, Japan and the European Union, light vehicles impose 15% tariffs, but it is not clear how the new rule will apply to large vehicles.

Chinese refineries have increased the purchase of crude oil from Russia. This increase has happened...

Chinese refineries have increased the purchase of crude oil from Russia. This increase has happened at a time when the demand for oil from Russia has decreased from India. US President Donald Trump has warned that a secondary tariff can be imposed on the countries buying oil from Russia to put pressure on Moscow and end the Ukraine War.

China saw ‘opportunity’ in Russia oil

Senior analyst Mayu Shu of Kepler, who tracks commodity and shipping data, said that this move of China is ‘opportunism’, as Russian oil is at least $ 3 per barrel cheaper than the Middle East.

India reduced purchases, China handed over a chance

According to the Reuters report, the Indian government refineries banned the purchase of Russian oil last month. According to Jones of Energy Aspects, India has reduced its purchase of about 6 to 7 lakh barrels per day. Mayu Shu says, ‘Right now there is a very good opportunity for China to shop, because the pressure of Trump continues on India. Prices are low, so more refineries can be purchased in the next one or five weeks.

China bought 15 cargo for delivery

According to Reuters, China has bought 15 cargo from Russia for the delivery of October and November. After the Russia’s attack on Ukraine in 2022, western countries reduced the purchase of oil from Russia. After this, India emerged as the biggest buyer of Russia, which buys oil by sea route at cheap prices.

Trump imposed 50 percent tariff on India, also warns China

Trump said that at present there is no plan to impose a tariff immediately on China, but ‘in two to three weeks’ can be considered. At the same time, Trump has first imposed 25 percent tariff on India and has also announced to impose 25 percent extra tariff, which will be applicable from August 27.

China will not be able to fulfill India’s deficiency

Analyst Shu said that China buys about 1.2 million barrels of Russian oil on the sea route daily, but it is not enough to fulfill India’s deficiency as India buys about 17 lakh barrels of oil daily from Russia. He said, ‘If India stops buying, it will be a big problem for Russia. China alone cannot take full quantity of India.

India and America have now reached the lowest level of several decades. India does not...

India and America have now reached the lowest level of several decades. India does not seem to get relief from the tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump. According to sources, on Saturday (August 16, 2025), India suffered a major setback when the US postponed the sixth round of the proposed bilateral trade agreement. This meeting was to be held in Delhi from 25 to 29 August. An American official said that the visit would probably be rescheduled later.

Sixth round postponed, shock to India
So far, five rounds of talks have been held between India and America regarding the trade deal. The sixth round of meeting was considered important, but due to its postponement, difficulties have increased for India. This delay will directly affect the tariff as the additional 25 percent penalty tariff i.e. 50 percent fees imposed by the US are going to be implemented from August 27.

American pressure on agriculture and dairy
The US wants it to get more markets in India’s agriculture and dairy sector. But India has made it clear that the interests of farmers will not be compromised. India is an agricultural country and if the American market interferes with the Indian agriculture sector, it will have a big impact on the farmers and the economy.

Future of trade
India and America have been a long time trade partner. The two countries have targeted that the first phase of bilateral trade deal will be completed by September-October 2025. Also, the plan is to increase bilateral trade by $ 500 billion by 2030. Currently, about $ 191 billion is being traded between the two countries.

Tariff’s effect
The US has imposed 25 percent tariff on India since August 7. Apart from this, due to purchasing crude oil and military equipment from Russia, an additional 25 percent punitive tariff has also been imposed on India, which will be applicable from August 27. This will affect both India’s exports and imports.

Indo-US business figures
According to the latest Commerce Ministry data, India’s exports to the US rose by 21.64% to $ 33.53 billion between April-July 2025. At the same time, imports from the US rose 12.33% to $ 17.41 billion during this period. During this period, America remained India’s largest trading partner.

India-as Mini Trade Deal: The negotiations on the limited trade agreement between India and the...

India-as Mini Trade Deal: The negotiations on the limited trade agreement between India and the United States are in the final stages. American tariff deadline is happening on Wednesday (July 9, 2025). For other countries, this deadline has been extended till August 1, but India has not been included in it, which is estimated that the official announcement of the deal between the two countries can be made anytime tonight.

The conversation was going on for a long time
According to a senior official, talks were going on between India and the US for several weeks. However, this deal will be limited as many areas could not be agreed. India was firm on its demands and was willing to face the tariff, but the US took the initiative to negotiate.

Suspense over tariff
It is not yet clear how much tariff America will impose on India, but according to reports it can be between 10 and 20 percent. Donald Trump warned of 10% additional tariff on BRICS countries. 26% of the recipe rockel tariff has already been implemented on India.

India does not have a trade deficit from America
In the financial year 2022-23, India exported ₹ 6.84 lakh crore to the US while in 2023-24 it was ₹ 6.75 lakh crore. At the same time, India’s imports from America decreased from ₹ 4.43 lakh crore to ₹ 3.67 lakh crore in 2023-24. India exports double to America, which will benefit it despite the tariff.

China-Bangladesh loss, India will get benefit
After the Geneva Agreement, the tariff war between the US and China has intensified. The US has imposed 51% tariff on China and 35% on Bangladesh. This will affect the export capacity of these countries and India will get competitive benefits in the US market, especially in textile.

Who will benefit from this deal?
To India:

Textile, medicines, and jewelery access to the US market

Export will be cheaper by removing 26% reciperook tariff

Bilateral trade can reach $ 500 billion by 2030

To America:

Products like Pekan Nuts, Blueberry and Automobiles are a chance to sell on low tariffs in India

An opportunity to strengthen market in Asia

The possibilities of broad deal in future will be stronger

One of bloomberg Report According to, Tesla’s first showroom in India is ready to open in Mumbai in July. The company’s third largest automobile market in India seems to have a great possibility for itself. In the last few quarters, sales have decreased in large markets of Tesla like Europe and China. This report states that the next showroom of the company after Mumbai may start in Delhi. Tesla’s dealerships have also imported car accessories, supercharger components, spare parts and merchandise from the US and China.

Tesla’s model Y can be launched initially in the country. Testing has been observed on the streets of this electric car in the last few months. The price of the company’s model Y can be $ 56,000 (slightly more than Rs 48 lakh) without tax. However, if Tesla enters the country’s market with a high price electric car, it can affect the company’s sales. Recently, a media report stated that Tesla is hiring drivers in the capital Delhi and Mumbai for testing its ‘Autopilot’ system. These drivers will act as ‘prototype vehicle operators’. Their responsibility will be to raise important data through driving to engineering vehicles in real local conditions.

In the job posting given by Tesla, applications were sought from experienced and skilled drivers. These drivers will have to driving for several hours under urban conditions. The selected drivers will have to collect data through Tesla’s Advanced Sensor Mechanism. This includes external cameras and computer visions. The company has said that the applying drivers should know about the Advanced Driver Assistant System (ADAS) and Full Self-Driving (FSD) features. The design of the company’s advanced driver assistance system is designed to increase safety and convenience.
<!--

The new EV policy of the Central Government can be launched soon to promote the industry associated with electric vehicles (EV) in the country. The objective of this policy is to encourage international automobile companies to manufacture EVS in the country. However, Tesla of Billionaire Elon Musk is not much interested in this policy.

The policy of this EV was announced in March last year. Bloomberg News Report It has been told by Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy that applications can be sought soon under this policy. It has been offered to reduce duty on imported electric vehicles up to $ 35,000 to 15 percent. However, to take advantage of import duty exemption, the EV company will have to invest a minimum of $ 500 million in setting up factory in the country within three years. In this policy, an annual duty of up to 8,000 cars can be imported on reduced duty. The condition of financial eligibility for companies taking advantage of this policy has been made strict. In this, EV maker will have to get a minimum of Rs 50 billion revenue in the fourth year of his business. The company that does not meet this condition will have to give up to three percent penalty of the difference in revenue.

However, Kumaraswamy has said that Tesla is less likely to join this policy as she does not want to manufacture the country. Tesla plans to sell imported electric cars through showrooms and dealerships. Kumaraswamy has not given much information about this. Tesla is preparing to start a business in India soon. However, Musk also expressed displeasure over more import duty in the country.

China’s byd EV is being sold in the country. Due to the government’s strict attitude towards China, it is difficult for BYD to join this policy. Vinfast of Vietnam is building a factory in the country before the start of this policy. Vinfast has confirmed the launch of its VF6 and VF7 in the country. Both these electric SUVs have been designed and developed in Viamam. However, these SUVs will be changed according to Indian conditions. Market analysts say that this EV policy may fail as big EV companies like Tesla, Byd and Vinfast will not benefit much from not joining it. <!--

Seven executives of the unit of South Korea’s electronics and devices maker Samsung have approached a court to reject a penalty of about 8.1 million dollars (about Rs 692 crore) from a court. This penalty is involved in a tax demand demand of about 60.1 million dollars (about Rs 5,135 crore) for the wrong classification of Samsung allegedly by Samsung.

A one of reates Report In the legal documents and a source, it has been told that these Samsung executives have argued that there was no ‘serious crime’. In January this year, the Tax Authority found that Samsung and some of its executives had incorrectly classified the import of a major equipment of a mobile tower between 2018 and 2021 saved tariffs. However, Samsung challenged this order in a tax appeal tribunal. The company had correct its classification of import and denied any disturbance.

In this case, a tax demand of about $ 52 million (about Rs 4,443 crore) was demanded from Samsung. Apart from this, some executives of the company were asked to pay a penalty of about 8.1 million dollars (about Rs 692 crore) to ‘know and deliberately’ in the wrong classification of the import. In an appeal filed in the High Court in Mumbai, Ravi Chadha, the logistics executive of the company’s unit in the country, has said that the two to three days of the penalty had issued a penalty order by Samsung and its executives, two to three days of receiving a detailed answer of hundreds of pages and “hasty” was issued by Ander Authorities of two to three days. This appeal has not been made public but Reuters have seen it. It states, “This period is very short to study deeply. The case is limited to the interpretation of the entries of tariffs. There has been no serious crime in it.” Chaddha was imposed a penalty of about $ 1.1 million (about 95 crore rupees).

In this regard, Samsung unit and Chaddha did not answer the questions sent by Reuters in the country. The Tax Authority has also not answered the request sent for comments. In this case, the online order of the court shows that six other executives of the company in this case have also challenged the order of Tax Authority. <!--

Crypto’s segment has increased rapidly over the years. This year has a lot of volatility...

Crypto’s segment has increased rapidly over the years. This year has a lot of volatility at the price of this market’s most popular cryptcurrency Bitcoin this year. Behind this, American President Donald Trump is a major reason for imposing heavy tariffs on imports from many countries including China. However, Bitcoin has recovered from Trump’s indication of compromising on trade with China and has crossed the level of one million dollars again.

The American bank JP Morgan predicts that Bitcoin can give more returns compared to gold this year. JP Morgan’s analysts said, “Gold in Gold from mid -February to mid -April this year was due to bitcoin. However, the opposite has been happening for the last few weeks. The price of bitcoin has been increasing due to gold.” JP Morgan’s managing director, Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou says, “There has been an equal contest between Gold and Bitcoin this year and it can remain the same in the rest of the year. However, for the second half of this year, we are estimated to be less than that of gold.”

A few months ago, the price of bitcoin fell from a high level of about 1,10,000 to about $ 75,000. Trump’s decision to tariff was the main reason behind this. However, it has recovered since last week and is over $ 1,03,000. Recently, Trump signed the order to create a strategic reserve of this oldest cryptocurrency. The Strategic Bitcoin Reserve of the US will include bitcoins seized by the government. In the executive order on which Trump has signed, it is clear that the amount of taxpayers will not be used to purchase this most market value cryptocurrency.

Payments in Cryptocurrency are also being accepted in some countries. Bhutan has also joined the list of these countries. Recently, Bhutan announced the launch of the crypto payment system. For this, one of the large crypto exchanges has been tie-up with a binance. The objective of this decision of Bhutan is to protect tourists from complications such as currency exchange rates and low availability of international cards and provide easy ways of payments.

Samsung, one of the large consumer electronics and smartphone companies, has challenged a tax demand of about $ 52 million (about Rs 4,380 crore) in India in a tribunal. This tax demand is allegedly associated with imports with wrong classifications of networking gear.

A report by Reuters quoted the documents related to the case as saying that Samsung has argued that the authorities were aware of this business method as Reliance has been importing this component for years in a similar way. Samsung is the second major foreign company to challenge tax demand in the country in the last few months. Earlier, Germany’s Volkswagen challenged a tax demand of about $ 1.4 billion (about Rs 11,796 crore) for import with the wrong classification of its component.

Earlier this year, Tax Authorities asked Samsung to pay $ 52 million for import with wrong classification of a major equipment of mobile tower. Tax authorities had said that the company had saved a tariff of 10–20 percent. Samsung has challenged this tax demand at the Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal in Mumbai. The company has said that tax authorities were fully aware of this trading method as Reliance imported the equipment similar to any tariff for three years.

Samsung unit in the country has said that it was found in a tax -related investigation that Reliance was warned about it in 2017 but Reliance did not inform him about it. Samsung has said this in the filing submitted on 17 April. This document has not been made public but Reuters have seen it. Samsung and Tax Authority did not answer the questions sent by Reuters in this regard. Apart from this tax demand, the authorities have also fined the company’s seven workers about 8.1 million dollars (about Rs 682 crore). It is not known whether Samsung workers have challenged this fine separately.

According to Bangladesh Akhbar The Daily News, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has taken this decision to protect the local textile industry from India’s raw materials, but it is being said that by deciding this, Bangladesh has dug a pit for itself.

According to the report, this decision of Mohammad Younus government has been welcomed by the owners of the textile mill, but the exporters have objected. The report said, “In the notification issued on April 13, NBR has banned the cotton imported from India through Benapole, Bhomra, Banglabandha, Bariwari and Sonamsjid Land Port.”

Mohammad Fazlul Haq, general manager of Plmi Fashion Limited, has objected to the government’s decision. He says that Bangladesh is already facing 10 percent tariff on exports in the US market. We are also getting a challenge from Indian products, it is not right to make this decision at such a time. He said that any kind of ban on import of yarn from India will affect Bangladesh exports and yarn imports should be allowed.

Ajay Srivastava, founder of Think Tank Global Trade Initiative, has expressed concern about the impact of this decision of Bangladesh on the quality and jobs of clothes. He said that Bangladesh has 80 percent export cloth. There is a very good quality cloth. He told that there are two ways to make cloth, one is that Bangladesh will bring fabric from China and get it cut directly with your labor and send it to the market. The second way is to bring yarn, then make fabric and stitched clothes from it, which will have a value edition, but the first way will not have a value edition.

Ajay Srivastava also told that Bangladesh’s textile traders were taking $ 1.5 billion yarn from India in a year, in such a situation, there are many industries in Bangladesh, which makes fabrics, but if fabric is called from China, then the quality of clothes will be spoiled and another will go to a large number of people’s jobs. In this way, China will benefit, but Bangladesh will be harmed.

The decision of Bangladesh is not being considered right for India because India exports 32 percent yarn in Bangladesh through Land Port. India sent 160 crore yarn and 8.5 crore man -made fiber Bangladesh last year. An expert told that out of which India exports, 45 percent occur only in Bangladesh.

Siddharth Rajagopal, Executive Director of Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council, said that this decision of Bangladesh is quite worrying because India mostly exports yarn through land port. He told that the mills of North India were exported, but now Mundra, Thuthukudi or Nahwa will have to be done from Sheva Port, due to which the cost in export will come more.
