14 former captains have written a letter to the Pakistan government regarding the ill health of jailed former Pakistan captain and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He has demanded from the current Prime Minister of Pakistan Sehbaz Sharif that Imran Khan should be provided proper treatment facilities in jail. Imran has been in jail for more than 800 days. His health is deteriorating, due to which questions and concerns are being raised about his treatment in jail.

According to the report, this letter has been signed by Belinda Clark, Greg Chappell, Michael Atherton, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Nasir Hussain, Ian Chappell, Michael Brierley, Allan Border, David Gower, Kim Hughes, Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh and John Wright.

Only 15% vision left in one eye

Imran Khan has been in jail for 2 years. A few days ago, a lawyer had claimed in the court that only 15 percent vision was left in Imran Khan’s right eye. He alleged that the authorities did nothing on his complaints for three months. 14 former captains of the world including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev have written a letter to the Pakistan government demanding that Imran Khan should get proper treatment in jail. According to the Times of India, the letter reads, “We are writing with deep concern about the alleged treatment and prison conditions of Imran Khan, the former captain of our national cricket teams, a renowned former captain of Pakistan and a great player of world cricket.”

What did the former captains write in the letter?

In this letter written by former captains to the Government of Pakistan, it is written, “Imran Khan’s contribution to the game is praised all over the world. As captain, he led Pakistan to a historic victory in the World Cup in 1992. This victory came through skill, sportsmanship, strong leadership, which inspired the new generation of the world. We shared the field with him, learned from him. He is one of the best all-rounders in cricket, whom everyone respects. Apart from cricket, he also served Pakistan by becoming the Prime Minister, and handled Pakistan in difficult times.”

Regarding Imran Khan’s deteriorating health in jail, it was written in the letter, “The reports related to his health, the news of his eyesight decreasing, have made us worried.” In the letter, the former captains wrote that the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and global sports icon should be treated well in jail.

Appealing to the Pakistan government, the former captains wrote, “We demand from the Government of Pakistan that Imran Khan should receive prompt, accurate and continuous medical attention from a qualified specialist of his choice to cure his reported health problems. He should be treated with respect in jail as per international standards, his close relatives should be allowed to visit him regularly. There should be fair and transparent access to the legal process without unnecessary delays or interruptions.”

Mental health changed Imran Khan’s life
While talking to Times of India, Imran Khan recalled that period and said that it was then that he realized that nothing was going right in his life. He described it as a kind of wake-up call for himself. Imran said, ‘I had suffered a big shock related to mental health. Like people sometimes have a health scare, suddenly something goes wrong and they say that now I will change my diet, improve my lifestyle, eat boiled vegetables.

He further said, ‘Something similar happened with me too, but it was about mental health. I looked back and told myself that nothing was right here. I have to fix it deliberately, intelligently. Just like when we face any problem in our body, we start taking care of it, I also had to consciously connect with my mind and mental state.

In the same interview, Imran also told that he always felt that he was a very cool and carefree person, who did not have any emotional burden. But with time he realized that his thinking was completely different from reality. Imran said, ‘My own image was that I am a very chill type of person. But gradually I realized that I was not actually the way I thought I was.

The way I was dealing with the world at that time was completely opposite to my thinking. I was living with fear and anxiety, there was a lot of anxiety inside, which was strangling me. To tell the truth, I was not an easy and carefree person at all, rather it was the complete opposite.

He further said, ‘This is stupidity and by charging more fees you are making your film handicapped. You are exploiting your film and aggrandizing yourself personally. It is true. And it’s like you don’t believe in that film.

Apart from this, Imran praised his maternal uncle Aamir. He said that Aamir Khan never charged much fees. Instead they do backend deals.

It is said that Imran did not like Munir’s rashness and he removed Munir from the post of ISI Chief. However, no explanation was given by the Pakistan Army for this reshuffle, due to which Asim Munir had to leave the post within eight months, whereas his tenure was for three years.
However, four years later, in the year 2023, PTI Chief Imran Khan had denied all such allegations. He said, ‘This is completely false. Neither General Asim Munir showed me any evidence of my wife’s corruption nor did I force him to resign because of this.

When Imran Khan got a shock

In April 2022, a no-confidence motion was brought against Imran Khan in the National Assembly of Pakistan. In the 342-member House, the opposition parties got 174 votes in support of the no-confidence motion and within no time power was taken away from Imran Khan. Imran Khan became the first Prime Minister in the history of Pakistan to be removed through a no-confidence motion. He has been kept in Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi. Imran Khan’s family has alleged that they are not being allowed to meet him for more than a month and have asked for proof of his survival. When rumors spread in the country and the world that Imran had died in jail, the officials of Adiala jail rejected these rumors and said that he was completely healthy.

Imran had made allegations against Asim Munir

Last year in May, former Pakistani cricketer Imran had written an article in which he accused Asim Munir of wanting to eliminate the presence of his party from Pakistani politics. Khan announced that if anything happened to him, Munir would be held responsible.

Khan wrote, ‘The military establishment has done whatever it could against me. Now they have nothing left but to kill me. I have said publicly that if anything happens to me or my wife, General Asim Munir will be responsible, but I am not afraid because my faith is strong. I would prefer death to slavery.

Pashtuns have often accused Pakistan Army of violence
