Why did Imran take action against Munir?

It is said that Imran did not like Munir’s rashness and he removed Munir from the post of ISI Chief. However, no explanation was given by the Pakistan Army for this reshuffle, due to which Asim Munir had to leave the post within eight months, whereas his tenure was for three years.
However, four years later, in the year 2023, PTI Chief Imran Khan had denied all such allegations. He said, ‘This is completely false. Neither General Asim Munir showed me any evidence of my wife’s corruption nor did I force him to resign because of this.

When Imran Khan got a shock

In April 2022, a no-confidence motion was brought against Imran Khan in the National Assembly of Pakistan. In the 342-member House, the opposition parties got 174 votes in support of the no-confidence motion and within no time power was taken away from Imran Khan. He has been kept in Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi. Imran Khan’s family has alleged that they are not being allowed to meet him for more than a month and have asked for proof of his survival. When rumors spread in the country and the world that Imran had died in jail, the officials of Adiala jail rejected these rumors and said that he was completely healthy.

Imran had made allegations against Asim Munir

Last year in May, former Pakistani cricketer Imran had written an article in which he accused Asim Munir of wanting to eliminate the presence of his party from Pakistani politics. Khan announced that if anything happened to him, Munir would be held responsible.

Khan wrote, ‘The military establishment has done whatever it could against me. Now they have nothing left but to kill me. I have said publicly that if anything happens to me or my wife, General Asim Munir will be responsible, but I am not afraid because my faith is strong. I would prefer death to slavery.

Pashtuns have often accused Pakistan Army of violence

In such a situation, Munir put Imran under house arrest and stopped him from meeting anyone. In such a situation, his family members and supporters have not been able to meet Imran Khan for many months. Amidst all this, the Afghan media first published the news of the attack on Imran in jail and then published the news of his death.

Jail administration issued statement

The jail administration has issued a statement regarding Imran’s health. It has been said in the statement that Imran Khan’s health is absolutely fine, but his supporters are not ready to accept it. In such a situation, Imran’s sister and other family members have opened a front against Munir and the Pakistani government. The news of the death of former Prime Minister of Pakistan and head of Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) Imran Khan has created a stir in Pakistan. Alima Khanum filed a contempt of court petition in the Islamabad High Court against the superintendent and other officials of Adiyal Jail after she was not allowed to meet her brother. He has filed this petition in the presence of Sohail Afridi and other PTI leaders.

The petition refers to the March 24 order of the Islamabad High Court, in which the court had given permission to meet Imran Khan twice a week. Imran Khan is lodged in Adiyal jail since August 2023. It has been said in the petition that the orders of the court have been deliberately not followed, due to which a request is made to initiate contempt proceedings. It specifically mentions not being allowed to meet Imran Khan.

The petition said that despite the instructions to allow meetings on Tuesday and Thursday, the defendants did not follow it nor implement it. The petition also states that Alima has been extremely concerned about her brother’s well-being, legal rights and humane treatment since he went to jail.

Those named in the petition include Adiyal Jail Superintendent Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, Officer-in-charge of Sadar Beroni police station Raja Aijaz Azim, Federal Home Secretary Captain (retd) Mohammad Khurram Aga and Punjab Home Department Secretary Noorul Amin. Apart from this, if he did not meet the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Afridi said that his party will not allow the Parliament session to continue.

Duniya News TV quoted Afridi as saying, ‘We got a message from the Chief Justice that he cannot meet us. We have decided that neither the National Assembly nor the Senate session will be allowed to continue today.
