Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has got permission to meet his sister Dr. Uzma Khatoon after almost a month. It is being told that Dr. Uzma has reached inside the jail premises, where she will meet Imran Khan. Amidst the protests outside Adiala Jail, Imran Khan’s sister Dr. Uzma Khan was finally called inside by the jail administration. Imran’s other sisters also reached the jail at 11:30 in the morning, but at present they have not been allowed to meet them.

Security around the prison is impenetrable.
Security has been tightened around the Adiala Jail complex. All roads leading to the jail have been blocked with containers and trucks. Heavy deployment of police and rangers has been made on every route. People are being searched continuously and only authorized people are being allowed to move forward.

Section 144 and orders to open fire implemented
Section 144 has been imposed in Rawalpindi due to which any kind of crowd or rally is banned. According to reports, the administration has issued orders to ‘shoot at site’, that is, in case of violence or vandalism, the security forces can open fire directly. A similar order has been implemented in Peshawar to stop the protesters.

PTI supporters not ready to back down
Despite strict restrictions and security arrangements, a large number of PTI supporters are present outside Adiala Jail. The protesters have continued sloganeering and the atmosphere is tense. The situation is constantly changing and the administration is on high alert.

Earlier, an anti-terrorism court of Pakistan on Monday rejected the petition of Alima Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in which she had requested to drop the charges against her under the anti-terrorism law. These charges are part of the case registered against Alima for participating in the protests called by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in November 2024.

The case was registered at Sadiqabad police station in Rawalpindi, in which 11 people including Alima were made accused and accused of illegal protest, anti-government sloganeering, vandalism and stone pelting. Alima had approached the Rawalpindi-based anti-terrorism court, requesting to drop terrorism charges under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Pakistan government announced the implementation of Section 144 in Rawalpindi district. This step was taken when rumors regarding the health and presence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan intensified. The administration feared that their party PTI might protest on a large scale across the country. In view of this, every type of crowd and gathering has been banned from 1st to 3rd December.

In the orders issued by District Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hasan Waqar Cheema, it has been clearly stated that no crowd will be allowed to gather in any form during these three days. The administration also made it clear that carrying weapons, roaming around with sticks or any kind of inflammable material, trying to remove police barricades and playing loud speakers will be completely prohibited. There is a ban on even seating of two people on a motorcycle. The government says that they have received confidential inputs which indicate violence and chaos.

PTI complaint

Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala jail since August last year. His party alleges that they have neither been allowed to see their leader for more than a month, nor are they being made to talk to him in any verified manner. PTI leaders claim that the government is hiding their condition and that is why the party was preparing for a massive peaceful demonstration, but the administration has already tried to control the situation by banning any kind of rally or meeting.

Statement of Imran Khan’s son

Qasim Khan, who lives abroad, expressed deep concern while speaking to Reuters. He said that there has been no contact with his father for months, nor has the family received any reliable information about him. According to Qasim, this situation has become like mental torture for the family. He alleged that the jail administration is not allowing the meeting despite the orders of the High Court and he fears that the situation has become very serious.

Why is the administration afraid? Intelligence report increased concern

The report of the district intelligence committee has indicated that some groups may try to take the protests to sensitive locations belonging to the army. After this warning, the government has clarified that Section 144 is necessary to prevent any untoward situation and maintain public safety. In view of the recent political situation, the administration does not want to take any risk.

The journey from a legendary captain to a jail cell

Imran Khan, who made Pakistan the champion in the Cricket World Cup 1992, later became the Prime Minister and remained in power from 2018 to 2022. Many cases are going on against him since last year, in which he was also sentenced. Khan says that all the cases are an act of political vendetta, but now the questions being raised about his condition in jail have added a new twist to the politics of Pakistan.

PTI Leader Imran Khan: In 12 cases of terrorism against former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, his refusal investigation may be overshadowed by him. The anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Lahore on Monday made a strong comment in the investigation of Imran Khan in a detailed written order.

The order issued by Judge Manzar Ali Gill states that Imran Khan’s polygraph (lies catching machine), photogramatric (facial identification) and voice matching tests can go against him in investigation and trial.

Violence of May 9 and its political earthquake
After the arrest of Imran Khan on 9 May 2023, a terrible violence erupted in Pakistan. On this day, he was arrested by Rangers from outside the Islamabad High Court. After the arrest, his supporters across the country blocked the roads, targeted the army’s bases and there was a conflict with the police in many places.

Many military and government buildings were damaged in this violence, after which 12 cases of terrorism, treason and violence were registered against Imran Khan.

Unique status in investigation: Accused not in the custody of the investigating agency
Judge Manzar Ali Gill also said in his order that the matter is unique in the history of Pakistan, as Imran Khan is currently lodged in another case in Adiala Jail and is not in the custody of the investigating agency.

He said, “None of the accused usually get a chance to deny forensic test during the investigation, but the situation is reverse in this case.” The judge also said that the court is unable to understand how the investigation will be completed in such a situation, and it seems to be a strategy done by Imran Khan in a strategy so that the trial can be avoided.

Demand for giving time to prosecution rejected
This order of the court came in terms of dismissing the petition of the prosecution on June 11, in which more time was sought for Imran Khan’s forensic investigation. The court admitted that when the accused is not cooperating in the investigation, there will be no benefit from giving time.

Court sign: This denial will affect the trial
72 -year -old Imran Khan has already denied polygraphs and photogramatic examinations. He clearly refused to join these tests to the investigating agency. The court says that Imran Khan is interrupting the investigation and is delaying the justice process by adopting a strategy of not being completed. This attitude can be used against him during his trial.
