Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Manickam Tagore has criticized Digvijay Singh’s statement about RSS organization. He even compared Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh with terrorist organization Al Qaeda. Manickam has called it a ‘famous self goal’.

Manickam Tagore said, ‘RSS is an organization which is built on hatred. It spreads hatred. There is nothing to be learned from hatred. Can you learn something from al-Qaeda? Al-Qaeda is an organization of hatred. He hates others. What is there to learn from that organization?’

What did Digvijay Singh say?

Digvijay Singh had shared a black and white photo from the 1990s. In this picture, young Narendra Modi is seen sitting on the ground near senior BJP leader LK Advani at an event in Gujarat. Along with this photo, he wrote, ‘People who once worked at the grassroots level can rise up in the organizational hierarchy and become Chief Ministers and eventually Prime Ministers.’

In this post Digvijay Singh called it the power of organization. He also tagged senior Congress leaders including Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, PM Modi and the official handle of the Congress in the post.

He wrote in his post, ‘I found this picture on Quora site. This is very impressive. How did grassroots volunteers of RSS and workers of Jan Sangh @BJP4India become the Chief Minister of the state and the Prime Minister of the country by sitting on the ground near the feet of the leaders? This is the strength of organization. Hail Siya Ram. @INCIndia @INCMP @kharge @RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi @Jairam_Ramesh @narendramodi.

There is an uproar over this post of Digvijay Singh. While BJP is cornering Congress and Rahul Gandhi after his post, Congress leaders are divided into two factions. On this, Manickam Tagore said that one should learn from an organization like Congress. This organization brought people together. Mahatma Gandhi transformed the Congress Party into a mass movement. Should organizations learn from organizations that spread hate?

Rahul Gandhi with the people: Tagore

He said, ‘Rahul Gandhi is completely with the people. Fighting for the people against the arbitrariness of the government. We should support them. Such a statement does not help Rahul ji’s struggle.

He said, ‘There is nothing to be learned from Godse’s organization except hatred. 140 year old Congress is still young. Fights hatred.

Digvijay Singh’s clarification after controversy

After the controversy over the statement increased, he also gave a clarification. On this he had said that he had praised the organizational structure of RSS, not its ideology. He remains an opponent of RSS and PM Modi.

BJP targeted

BJP also took a dig at Digvijay’s statement. Party national spokesperson CR Kesavan said that these comments have exposed the dictatorial and undemocratic work of the Congress leadership. Will Rahul Gandhi show courage? Will they react to the shocking truth bomb dropped by Digvijay Singh’s tweet? This has completely exposed how the first family of Congress runs the party in a dictatorial manner. How dictatorial and undemocratic is this Congress leadership?

The picture of Bihar elections has become clear. NDA is on the way to a record victory with 203 seats out of 243, while the Grand Alliance is getting only 35 seats. NDA is gaining more than 70 seats compared to 2020, the Grand Alliance is suffering the same loss. The worst situation is that of Congress, which is getting only 4 seats. Congress has once again lost the assembly elections. But this is not a new thing, in fact if we look at the figures from 2014 to 2025, then Congress must have got used to defeat.

So let us understand in ABP Explainer how many elections Congress lost in the last 11 years, in which states it lost and what is the trend of Congress defeat…

Question 1- How many Lok Sabha elections have been held in the country from 2014 to 2025?
answer- Lok Sabha elections have been held thrice in the last 11 years. Lok Sabha elections are held every 5 years and cover three complete cycles over a period of 11 years.

First election- It took place in 2014 for the 16th Lok Sabha, when voting was completed in 9 phases from 7 April to 12 May. There were 8,251 candidates in the fray for a total of 543 seats. There was 66.4 percent voting, which was the highest figure till that time. In the results, BJP won 282 seats, which was more than the majority of 272 seats, while Congress got only 44 seats. Due to this election, Congress was out of power at the Centre.

Second election- It took place in 2019 for the 17th Lok Sabha, when voting was completed in 7 phases from 11 April to 19 May. Here too 543 seats were at stake. 67.4 percent voting took place and BJP won 303 seats, while Congress got only 52 seats.

Third election- For the 18th Lok Sabha in 2024. Elections were held in 7 phases from 19 April to 1 June. 65.79% voting took place and BJP got 240 seats, while NDA got a total of 293 seats. Narendra Modi became Prime Minister for the third time. Congress got 99 seats in this election, which was its best performance after 2014.

These elections made national politics BJP-centric, where the NDA led by Narendra Modi formed strong governments, but the balance was slightly upset by the unity of the opposition in 2024. Now the next elections will be held in 2029.

Question 2- How many assembly elections were held across India from 2014 to 2025 and what were the results?
answer- According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), 66 full state assembly elections were held across India from 2014 to 2025. The term ‘Assembly elections’ is primarily used for full state elections…

Andhra Pradesh- YSR-Congress won 67 seats out of 175. Congress did not get even a single seat.

Question 3- So how many elections did Congress win and how many lost in the last 11 years?
answer- According to the Election Commission website, 66 full assembly elections were held in the last 11 years. Of these, Congress won a total of 8 elections and lost 58 elections. Defeat here means not getting majority or not leading the coalition. The average vote share was 19%, but seat conversion was less. The wave of BJP, strength of regional parties and weakness of the organization made Congress a losing party.

Voting is being held on Friday (October 24) for four Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir. National Conference (NC) is hopeful of a clean sweep with the support of 57 members including Congress, PDP, CPI and independents. At the same time, BJP with 28 members is hoping to win the fourth seat.

Let us tell you that the votes of Sheikh Khurshid of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIP) and jailed MLA Mehraj Malik of Aam Aadmi Party will decide the fourth seat, because both National Conference and BJP have 28-28 members.

What did MLA Sheikh Khurshid say
Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surendra Chaudhary claims that Sajjad Lone will also vote for the National Conference candidate. He has claimed that Sajjad has changed his decision of not voting. Meanwhile, Awami Ittehad Party MLA Sheikh Khurshid has said that he will vote for NC. He says that voting is a compulsion to keep BJP away. This has made BJP’s victory on seat 4 more difficult.

Alliance of National Conference and Congress
The alliance of National Conference and Congress has majority in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, hence two seats are being considered safe for the alliance. A third notification was issued for the remaining two seats. According to the mathematics of the Assembly, it is certain that one of the two members from NC will be elected, but there is competition between BJP and NC for the other one.

Let us tell you that the Election Commission had issued 3 separate notifications for the selection of these four members. This means that each MLA will vote three times to elect Rajya Sabha member. One member will be elected as per the first notification. Another member will be elected under the second notification. There are 2 seats vacant in the 90-seat assembly of Jammu and Kashmir and the process of by-election is going on here. The NC-Congress alliance, which is in power in the state, has the support of 53 MLAs in the House. Of these, there are 41 MLAs from NC, 6 from Congress and one from CPI(M).

Mumbai Youth Congress (Mumbai Youth Congress) has received the first time as a woman. Zeenat Shabrin won the recent organizational elections by winning 10,076 votes and the post became the name of a woman for the first time.

This election for the post of president in the youth unit of Congress was held between 16 May to 17 June and the results were declared on Sunday (September 21). At the same time, Zeenat Shabreen’s victory shows new energy and increasing role of women leadership in the party, which shows women empowerment.

Historical victory in election

In this election, nine candidates were in the fray for the post of president. Zeenat Shabreen scored the highest 10,076 votes, leaving behind all the candidates. This is the first time a female leader has led the leadership of Mumbai Youth Congress. According to the news agency PTI, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) officials are selected through internal elections, which makes the organizational transparency and democratic tradition strong.

Zeenat Shabreen came from non-political background

Zeenat Shabreen comes from a non-political background. He said that under his leadership, Mumbai Youth Congress will work to become the voice of the youth of the city. According to the statement issued by the party, Zeenat Shabreen has expressed his gratitude for the guidance and trust of the Indian National Congress, Mumbai Congress, Maharashtra Congress and Mumbai Youth Congress family.

The voice of the youth and the resolve to protect democracy

Zeenat Shabreen said that the organization will continue to struggle to protect democracy and constitution by working under the leadership of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and IYC National President Uday Bhanu Chib. He says that the issues of the youth will be raised prominently and steps will be taken to make the organization more strong.
